Forums - Sony - GT5 2009 release is becoming another worst kept secret special from Sony

@RPG

Yes GOW & FF did well.....but not as well, nowhere near as well as the PS2 iterations

Look at MGS too......boy those games did terrible there in comparison to PS2 one's

ALSO GT is a legs franchise.....remember this. GT4's opening week is lower than GTA 4 PS3's.....yet it still sold more than it LTD.

GT has legs.....but in America the franchise has lost popularity, of that there is no doubt

Don't know if it means anything but just noticed amazon France listing the release date as Dec. 11. Other amazon sites have had it listed for Dec.29 for quite some time as we all know.

i think with the addition of NASCAR in GT, it may be able to recover some of its lost popularity... and marketing is always the key..

is GT really that big a deal? ^^;;; it's not like we are at the point where we can feel the engine from the pedal and manually shifting with it stalling if not done right in our living rooms while being affordable yet lol. I'd rather play ridiculous crazy arcade racers just because they are more game like. /shrug

Although YOU may not see it as a big deal it's still an extremely HUGE franchise...

That's a good thing, these kinds of franchises keep the industry afloat.

To answer your question, Gran Turismo IS a big deal.

see that's what I don't get, I've played every one of them, it does look nice, but it's a simulation game, and you are not really driving those cars, they are essicientially moving blocks you control with a gamepad. you can't feel the cars accurately, nor can you even try to understand how it'd feel unless you are a race car driver, maybe in 10 years we can, maybe never though? I'm gonna play it a little just to go woo ah looks nice for maybe a week or two, but uh, yeah.....

I don't know, I like the gameplay and many agree, obviously. That's all I'm getting at

I think I just have a problem with the words "The Real Driving Simulation" which is full of shit. The gameplay is average, but it does have pretty graphics to back it up. I always did have more fun with Crazy Taxi series or Mario Kart though, maybe I just find attempted car sims to not be as interesting in general even though I do play them sometimes just to see where they are at, I'm hoping eventually it'd make me feel like I'm physically in the car at an affordable price, assuming I'm still alive by then.

For the gameplay to be average, you'd have to have something else to compare it to, at least on consoles you do. There aren't many games like Gran Turismo.

I rate gameplay on fun factor mostly, I just don't find it fun, it's like using dual analog for FPS, feels like shit no matter how good I am. Just because I can accurately turn or shoot, it doesn't mean the control feels good, that's just my personal skill.

Ever think that maybe just maybe Gran Turismo isnt a game for you? I mean maybe it's just not your cup of tea. Now if you want to get the full fun factor for a GT game I suggest you buy a logitech steering wheel as thats the only way to get the maximum fun out of a driving simulation

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I got the GT, doesn't matter though, you are prolly right, I do like driving my car better.
