The interesting thing is noone waited for elite price drop lol also why Arcade users didn't decide to upgrade to elite ? - actually they have more reasons to rebuy hardware than Ps3 owners. lol at haters

OT - obviously there will be a big drop - it's normal - I go with270k

I do agree with you

but ioi mentionned it in the main page

and I must say, the sales are so impressive  !!!!!!!

that is why I put "?" ...

300k drop is what I am guessing. Should still put the PS3 at about 250K or above. I am anticipating about a 180-200k weekly average until holiday.

I doubt the PS3 sales are going to crash and burn. More likely they will diminish over the next few weeks and then ramp back up as we approach Christmas.

Will they stay at close to .5 m? Not likely. But I don't believe they will drop back to 100k next week, either.

I'm thinking next week will be around 225-250k, so roughly 45-50% drop

Yeah because the elite price drop was actually a secret

Urgh... again you don't buy an elite if you have an arcade...

I agree with this... unlike the PS3, which has had models that simply couldn't be upgraded (couldn't add WiFi on the early 20 GB models, loss of BC with no ability to add it back in), the 360 units have pretty much been upgradeable to the next level except for the lack of HDMI on early units, and even those had component video and VGA.

There just isn't a compelling reason to buy an Elite if you have an arcade and add a hard drive for < $150.

Likely because a lot of Arcade users are casual who were attracted by the $200 price so they won't rush out to buy a new model. Chances are their needs are settled. I expect a lot of hardcore users bought the PS3 which explains the huge boost but casuals will wait a little while to buy one.

Believe it or not, I know several hard-core gamers who got Arcades knowing they would have access to a cheap, second-hand hard drive.  Most didn't need WiFi as they had a router close by.  In fact, my primary 360 (I have two) is an Arcade I recently bought.  I knew I was going to be able to get a 120 GB for cheaper than retail, I already had 6 wireless controllers and 3 wireless headsets for my 360 Pro, and I already had the HDMI cables I needed so I had no reason to spend the money on an Elite.

If Elites included WiFi as well as the hard drive, it might be a better option.

hmm.. it will definately drop A LOT in Japan ..

I think JPN: 46k (-70%)
AM: 96k (-33%)
O: 169k (-33%)
----------------------------
WW: 311k (-44%)

then again I might be quite a bit too optimistic with the drops in "americas" and "others"
