Forums - Microsoft - First Crackdown 2 details.

Saints Row 2 used the same city and yet it was pretty much a new city.

They've specified that the streets etc are identical, the only difference is that a couple of the buildings have been demolished. It's different as well because Crackdown uses the city in a platforming sense, so if the  EXACT same city is used again in Crackdown 2 it'll get real old real quick.

This is really dissapointing, it seems like its not a full sequel and just the "crackdown 1.5" that was rumoured earlier in the year :(

Care to explain how you came to this conclusion based on this minimal of information?

"he project’s being called “Crackdown 1.5″ in the UK trade, and it’s set in the same city as the original Realtime Worlds 360 classic. Multiplayer’s going to play a massive part in the game, aparently, moreso than the new single-player stuff."

There were loads of associated rumours around that time as well. It ticks all the boxes, exact same city, same weapons with a couple of additions, same vehicles with a couple of additions, emphasis on multiplayer. Don't get me wrong I'll probably still buy it, but its more like a Crackdown: The Lost & the Damned than Crackdown 2. Its more like Final Fantasy X-2 to FFX than a GTA4 to GTA:SA

Nice, an 8 month old article based on a rumor.

I highly disagree.  The only reason you could possibly say it is 1.5 is because the city is the same, and basically in name and streets only, as buildings are heavily altered.

There are MANY sequels that bring the same set of weapons over and add some.  Namely, pretty much all FPS games with sequels.  Same goes for vehicles.

Basically, Crackdown 2 sounds like what EPIC did with Gears 2.  Bigger, better, and more badass.

Different enemies, different gameplay mechanics, different missions structures, different online gameplay, 4 PLAYER CO-OP!!, 16 PLAYER MULTIPLAYER!!, enhanced graphics.  More weapons, more vehicles, more players, more unlockables, MORE EVERYTHING.

Seems like more than enough to call it a sequel.

Wait! So now I can play offline co-op?

It has Agility Orbs!!!! Day 1 for me.

Well said.

If Crackdown 2 adds the features that are shown in the OP...and you call it Crackdown 1.5...then Uncharted 2 and its new features should be considered Uncharted 1.3

Mario Gallaxy is Mario 64 1.732

And resident evil 5 is Resident evil 3.99999999

Will this one be bundled with a demo of Halo 4?

I see what you are trying to say...Halo 4 is Halo reach so most likely not.

But it doesn't need it. Have you heard anyone say anything bad about Crackdown? Ever? People want a sequel...

Well, a lot of people were saying bad things about it on release.  I don't remember if it was serious criticism or just PS3 fanboys attacking it, but I remember it taking a lot of flak.  I also remember quite a few saying that the only thing worthwhile was the Halo demo it came with.

These days it only kind of makes sense that the people who would still talk about it are the ones who enjoyed it though.

That makes sense and honestly I wasn't around to see what the reaction to Crackdown was. The fact that it took 2 years for 2 copycat games to come out (infamous and prototype) tells us that someone making Crackdown had a fresh new idea.

Crackdown should be considered an xbox 360 sleeper classic at this point along with Dead Rising.
