Forums - Gaming - What is the big deal about the Beatles Rock Band?

Maybe because Rock Band is the best rhythm series on the markets, and this one incorporates songs from the best band ever? All my personal opinion, of course, but not an opinion I'm alone in. It also recreates several of the old Beatles videos and shows (I Am The Walrus instantly springs to my mind).

Its one of those things you either really like or you don't, I don't! I thought the opening Beatles Rock Band presentation at E3 was terrible/long and set the tone poorly for the show. I don't really get why these Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Wii Music games sell. I've played them sober and I have played them drunk at parties and they suck either way you play them IMHO. I don't really get how bringing us back to the Beatles is suppose to be nostalgic when the majority of video game players were not alive when the Beatles were popular!

I saw a Beatles: Rockband comerical today. It was over 2 minutes long. Thats pretty amazing.

Nostlagic? Maybe because our parents brought many of us up on the beatles? (and in my case Chopin and Guibert and Sullivan but I don't think they will make it into a game...oh wow...just remembered Eternal Sonata uses chopins music in it, see some music really is timeless.  Please could someone make a game...a very strange but wonderful game about Guibert and Sullivan? )

The beatles are STILL popular I think thats the point.

I've been enjoying hearing songs that I haven't heard much/at all(?), and my fiancee will play this with me and she LOVES harmonies. Also, the first unlockable is brilliant!

OT: You get to see how the Beatles career took off, and as the IGN review put it (and I'm paraphrasing) you can see the pandamoneum of those stadium shows and why they might have wanted to get away from it. Keep in mind nobody did stadium rock shows, nobody really did rock on a level like this at all, all of this stuff was unprecedented then. Now something called The Jonas Brothers can fill a stadium, it just didn't happen back then. This game shows the absolute mind-job that must have done to these guys.

Please tell me you didn't just bunch Wii Music with Rock Band and Guitar Hero. In all honesty that's like comparing a Ferrari with a  moped just because they both have wheels. No disrespect to Wii Music but it can't hold a lick to other music games especially Rock Band Beatles.

Given you can't even buy Beatles music on iTunes, I think its a pretty unique thing

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

The big deal about it is its 1) The Beatles and 2) Rockband. Its a big deal when the Beatles do ANYTHING. And Rockband has taken over the music gaming market. Put them together and you have a super hyped game.

Now I'm not a big Beatles fan. Heck, I had to grow up listening to them and I think half their songs all sound the same. But on the same token, I do recognize that the Beatles are a major deal. I mean, think of all the major boy bands that have ever been in existence. Now combine the hype they've ever produced, times it by 100, and stretch it over 50 years. You have the Beatles.

And now you know why this game is a major deal, even if it isn't the actual Beatles behind the Guitars.

I've asked a few people what the big deal about the Beatles Rock Band is and I keep getting the same answer: it faithfully recreates the Beatles experience?

Wut?

What does that mean?  Isn't it still just Rock Band with the Beatles?  What does it do so differently that is making everyone flip out over it?

It means you play for 8-12 hours a day in german stripclubs.

Or at least... your room smells the same way... due to the 8 to 12 hours a day of playing.

It's the Beatles, what else is there to understand?
