Forums - Gaming - In a scale from 1 to 10, how important is gameplay and graphics to you?

I honestly can't put a number on it. Of course, I buy the triple a mega titles, but I also buy a lot of crap (in some people's opinion) like Bullet Witch. Graphics are weak, and gameplay is borderline broken, but I can't stop playing until I beat it.

I don't care about the gameplay, as long as the graphics are good. That's why I bought a Wii.

If a games gameplay was awesome and deserved a 10 I could settle for graphics that were only about a 3 and would consider buying it. However if a game had graphics that were amazing and worth a 10 I would probably not buy it if the gameplay was only a 3.

I will say then the bare minimum rating for each that I could stand for each category would be something like

Gameplay: 7

Graphics: 3

Gameplay: 8 -10

GFX: 6 - 10

I play uo which is 10 yr old gfx but the gameplay is one of the best. So In that respect I don't mind gfx as gameplay is way better. I do prefer best gfx though, but it's not worth anything if gameplay sucks ass.

Music is a big part as well. If the music sucks that impact on if I like it.

I really don't care at all about the gameplay. So far I have never played a game in which the gameplay bothers me too much. What's most important for me is to have an interesting story. That's why I like jrpgs and survival horror games the most. There are a few shooters with good plot (like half-life, fear, timesplitters...) but most unfortunately don't. And that's why I absolutely detest party and sport games. They're ridiculously boring.

About the graphics - of course life-like graphics are all nice but it's not necessary. I like the the graphics of most 2d jrpgs since snes so...it's basically not how much pixels the games have but how pretty they are.

JUST GAMEplay and graphics

gameplay 10
graphics 5.

HOWEVER...graphics can EFFECT gameplay.

even if the gameplay is solid and great if the game's graphics make said game play for CRAP.. then it's an issue

for example Bioshock on the pc...take a lowend machine that can JUST play the game at say 1280x1024...now crank the graphics to 1600x1200 ...is the gameplay as good or much much worse.

give me grat gameplay with good graphics while maintaining an acceptable fps (anything over 30 is ok- 60+ is best) and it'll do fine

I gonna be a little different by saying I want Game Play to be RIDICULOUS and I want graphics to be WOW

i'm torn here... i've invested heavily in a hd setup, so i like what can push that envelope, but of course gameplay is essential...

gameplay 9
graphics 8

this is a respective look at each generation

Graphics - 5, so long as I can tell what everything is and where it is I don't really give a crap as long as the game is good.
Gameplay - 10
Sound - 8 Music sound effects voice work, having any of them be out of place or bad and I just can't stand it.
Story - 10 Vital, unless I'm buying the game to fill some primal need to beat stuff to death.

 Same.
