Forums - Sony - PS3 accounts for 10% of iPlayer viewing

how many different methods are there with a dedicated method?

PC, Mac, PS3..... how many others?

Your confusing me now.

PC, MAC, PS3, BT Vision, Virgin, Mobiles, SKY?, that other pay per view box thing which I cannot rember its name and 360 supposedly coming etc etc.

Obviously for Windows and MAC based machines you can also download the films for later viewing but that is not streaming but worth remembering to store all your stuff on your lappy before embarking on a camping trip when the mobile phone signal is non existent.

iPlayer is going for UK domination.

A whole bunch of mobile devices as well, such as the iPod Touch and iPhone, and models from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung. Further, cable and satellite services offer iPlayer (such as Virgin Cable, which offers iPlayer as part of it's catch-up TV options). Further, I think the Wii has access as well (not that I've checked in a long time). There are others, but I forget what, given I don't use them.

how can iPlayer go for UK domination.... its only BBC.

iPlayer runs on some (very few) set top boxes, PC, Mac and PS3... but how do they know how people are accessing?

The same way as you'll know that someone has entered any site with some sort of traffic analyst.

its only BBC. - which is only the best broadcaster here in the UK and one of the best in the world.

In much the same way my website knows what operating system is accessing it, I imagine.

@kowenicki

Take a look at Google Anylatics, it's a good example on how a simple code can gather the data.

Very useful if your a simple webmaster but later on you should be looking onto (Co)developing something yourself to a more specific needs.

Its superb. I rarely used iPlayer before, mainly because of it being on the computer. Now I can use it from the couch.
Im aware it merely being a link on the XMB to the webpage but still it raises awareness.

Not liking the PSN Store links everywhere though.

One of the best broadcasters in the world true.... but apart from the very good (although rampantly politically correct) news and the odd documentary... forget it.

Sport? Sky
Movies? Sky (or downloads)
Music? Sky
Documentaries? Sky

For having Doctor Who....it WINS!!! ;o)

Sky have a similar service on their website, but you need to be s subscriber (obviously) to use it.

For being a free to view and free to keep for 30 days service, iPlayer is the best in the business.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Sky relay a lot of material via companies that choose to use it i.e. National Geographic or Discovery I would not say they are the better broadcaster. The BBC and Channel 4 produce better documentaries for example than anything SKY produce but not necessarily what they relay. I watch National Geographic and Discovery programes via the on demand system on my IPTV not through the channels themselves.

Most boxes such as my Vision box and I thought also the Virgin boxes offer iPlayer via a replay or catch up function. It may not be branded as iPlayer but it is the iPlayer service.

iplayer is fantastic, theres so much to do on psn now its unbelivable its all for free.

im catching up on the new dragons den series funny as hell, theres shit loads on there for kids also. not to mention the bbc radio channels.

another feature i didnt realise is that it features full subtitles. has excellent image quality when used in normal mode.

with the addition of the iplayer imo psn is clearly the best online console service.
