The first game was seen as the epitome of casualness until people realized it had no story/gameplay but was still excellent in what it wanted to do.

Then people who played it praised it, and every Sony fan took it as an example of the casualization of Nintendo gamers.

Cant wait for the game and the ensuing discussions. Great fun it will be.

Lol what? No gameplay? Every game has gameplay, even the likes of Tetris and Minesweeper.

See, so it is obviously not a game.

Right. So then that in fact makes it the first game in history that not only lacks any form of gameplay, but also, in fact, is not a game!

Also it does have a story, albeit a simple, non-obligatory one, as anyone who has played it will remember.

I have a diving license too, though what that has to do with anything is beyond me, :p and I own the original, and it's awesome. Can't wait for this sequel, it's gonna be even more awesome! Awesomeness! :D

Well i guess i figured that actual diving was more interesting than a simulation. Living in Australia is a benefit too.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I have a driving license. So no Mario Kart?

Ah well, yeah of course it is, but this is just a videogame, I'm sure flying around in outer space is way interesting too, but that doesn't mean I won't fully enjoy Mario Galaxy 2. :p

And besides, this is a game, you can do a lot more and see a lot more stuff that you normally wouldn't see or do in real life. ;) I mean, in the original there were blue whales, great white sharks, ancient underwater ruins to explore, treasure to find, ship and airplane wrecks to discover, dark chasms hundreds of meters deep with boiling water and a whale cemetery at the bottom, penguins, polar bears, caves, lagoons, open ocean and even dolphin buddies that you could follow around and hold onto.

This sequel is bound to bring us even more and better things. :)

its supposed to be a huge improvement over the first.

- 2 player
- wii speak
- more adventure rather than just exploration
- improved graphics
- varied environments

Actually itsalmost no improvement at all if it get'S only 1 score point more.

Dude the game is coming out something like 2 year later than the original. Im sure reviewers take these things into account. If Endless ocean 2 was basically identical to the first in features ect.. it would not get nearly the same review now.

The fact that the second is coming out with an improvement in the score says alot. Most the time sequels have a lower score because they don't do enough to advance the series.

mfogg20 is dead-on concerning reviews. If a sequel is basically the same game with only minor tweaks, it almost always gets a lower score, from nearly all major reviewers.

Also, which idiots were claiming that a game must have a story to avoiding being 'casual'? Have you ever played a major sports game that had a deep story? Puh lease.... you people need to stop trying to make games fit into your little mold that your narrow mind can comprehend. For an RPG, a good story is essential. For an open-world game like Endless Ocean, it's not required.

Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!

Oh yeah, and for those who were saying EO1 sold only 100K, please check out the VGchartz data that shows it sold almost 1 million.

I can't wait for this title.

Pixel Art can be fun.

can someone explain to me why endless ocean is such of a big deal...i mean i love ninty but why do all people say endless ocean is a aaa game and is a must buy???
