Talking about Sony Bravia...I picked up a 40" 1080p Sony Bravia (40W2000) yesterday. Got it for the brilliant price of about £500.

Now, all I need is a nice PS3 with some good games and a few Blu-Ray's to enjoy it.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Wow, all three of those are great, especially the last two (paint and bunnies). And they all have good music to match.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

£500, that's a bargain price. just got a Bravia 32S310A, it cost me $560 US dollars

1080p with 2 HDMI, will place my wii and a new PS3 next to it soon

Now using it as Computer' monitor, running 1360x768, looks pretty nice

But when i use it as TV, i think my Fujitsu SD plasma perform better

The one with the balls is too long, but cool. The one with the paint is amazing, I enjoyed it :) The one with the rabbits is fine but not great IMO.

What size was it?  It looks like HD tv's may be getting cheap enough that even I can afford one.

Yeah I love these, the one with the balls and the other with the paint in particular. The rabbits is good but just not as impressive as the other two.

They seem a bit wasted on youtube, the poor picture quality doesn'tdo them justice. They should really be watched on a cinema screen for the full effect.

That's a 32'

But it really make no difference when i watch SD TV, i'll say wait for a cheaper price unless you have some HD equipments (HD TV signal, PS3...), later is always cheaper.

I totally agree.  We have had a 28" SDTV for 6 years and we were determined to wait until it stop working before upgrading, but we couldn't miss the opportunity.

Although the LCD we have bought at a great price is a great TV (it was voted Best HDTV 2006 by various magazines) and can show the full 1080p, we don't have any equipment to take advantage of this feature, or even the standard 720p HD feature as well.  SDTV looks painfully bad on it as well as you can see all the artifacts of the MPEG compression and you really need to sit quite a bit back so that it looks okay.

But we do intend on adding to it with a PS3 and home cinema speaker pack, although we don't have the cash at the moment for either.  So we will have to wait for the short term.

If you are in a similar position then I suggest you go for a really cheap 720p no bigger than 37".  If you have a PS3 go for 1080p, if you have an 360 go for 720p (very few games play in 1080p and seeing as there is no HDDVD included you'll not get the advantage).

But as you say, technology is coming down so quickly.  12 months ago a 32" 720p cost around £699, now you can pick the same up for £400.  1080p was around £1200 + 12 months ago, you can pick them up for £699 now.
