I usually buy mine through Amazon. You can get free shipping on anything over $25, and you pay no taxes (unless you live in New York or whatever).

Still, their rankings are a horrible way to try and gauge sales. Even when the 360 was trouncing the PS3, it wasn't uncommon for it not to have a single SKU in Amazon's top 100. Meanwhile, the PS3 rarely left the top 10 or 20.

Amazon account for a very small percentage of sales and this is not news at all. You can not use Amazon to get a true reflection of the market. More people buy games and consoles in person than buy online.

Every time you use Amazon as a reference in a atemp to predict Video Game Sales..its gives Amazon the ok to kill 1 Baby seal

why dnt we wait for odst to be released and then well see

1 - Amazon rankings aren't useful to make these kind of extrapolations

2 - clearly it is very likely the majority of existing Halo fans who have a 360 will buy this game and account for the bulk of its sales

3 - it is also fairly likely the title will attract a percentage of new players to the Halo franchise, and will drive a modest, if likely short lived, HW boost.


So, will it be a system seller in the sense of significant percentage of additional HW units? Probably not, simply because the bulk of those likely to buy it should already have a 360 / Halo 3.

However, it likely will sell some systems, and produce a boost for short period of time to 360 HW.

So it depends what you mean by system seller, really, and everything is pretty easy to work out from available info and common sense without looking at Amazon.

Non-sequitur fallacy. The falling off of Elite sales after a price cut has nothing to do with legitimacy of ODST as a system seller or not. That argument just won't work.

Only thing you can get off of this is that it isn't unusual for sales to drop after a first week price cute.
