Forums - Website Topics - Do forum posters change after a certain amount of time on the forums?

So vgchartz is pretty much the only forum I really stuck to for more than a few months. I've been a member for a year and a half now, and I've noticed when looking back at my older post that somethings have changed to a large degree. A few things that have changed are how frequent I would post, how important grammar was in making the post, and whether or not I thought the post out or not. When I first joined I would post at the least 20 times a day. 5 of those were probably threads that I created. Most of the time they didn't even have thought out or worthwhile content either. My grammar was the usual internet grammar that you see on Youtube as well. I would pretty much post everything I wrote, and never not post something. Today I think my posts through, and usually make sure I have the right information, or I know what I'm talking about. If I don't like a post I made, I won't post it. I worry about whether my grammar is up to par. I post much less often as well. So I think it is fair to say that I've changed. Having finished that, I would like to ask a few questions to members of VGchartz's forum.

1  How long have you been a member? What experience do you have in other forums, specifically gaming forums? - This helps me realize whether it is new to you or not, and if you know how a forum works. It also gives me the time you had with the forums so I know how much you had to change as a poster.

2  Read your first few posts, do you yourself think that your style has changed? How much?

3  How often do you post a day? Has this changed from any other time period?

4  Answer the question in the thread title.

Thanks to anybody who takes their time to answer the questions.

1  How long have you been a member? What experience do you have in other forums, specifically gaming forums?

A very long time, probably too long.  I have posted and continue to post in many forums.

2  Read your first few posts, do you yourself think that your style has changed? How much?

I think my style is more or less the same as it was before.  I mean, I still make snarky responses like this one.

3  How often do you post a day? Has this changed from any other time period?

18 ppd for now.  I was up to like 25-28 at some point before the website revamp.

4  Answer the question in the thread title.

I think everyone changes in some ways as it's simply a function of time passing and people growing more (or less) mature.  No one is going to be exactly how they are today forever.  Even one year can make a huge difference.  Sometimes it's a good thing.  Certain members have matured and become much more worthwhile to the community.  Sometimes it's a bad thing.  Certain other members have become more jaded about various topics and now see everything in a negative light.

i think maybe as ur post count gets higher u get more confidant... but then u look at someone and think ITS OVER 9000!!!! lol

1. How long have you been a member? What experience do you have in other forums, specifically gaming forums?

I've been a member for 5 months now. It's my first forum.

2. Read your first few posts, do you yourself think that your style has changed? How much?

I've not been here long enough to change. But I don't like posting uninteresting stuff and I'm trying hard to have the best english possible considering english is a second language for me.

3. How often do you post a day? Has this changed from any other time period?

My profile says 9 posts a day but it truely depends. One day I'll write 2 posts and the other 20.

4. Answer the question in the thread title.

Of course you gather experience with time so yes I'm sure everybody gets better.

On here, I've been lurking since very late 2006. Signed early 2007. I've been here for two and a half years. I've been in forums since I was eight.

2  Read your first few posts, do you yourself think that your style has changed? How much?

My earlier posts were very biased with shitty grammar and punctuation.

3  How often do you post a day? Has this changed from any other time period?

Maybr 40-50 times a day. Sometimes I post very little.

4  Answer the question in the thread title.

Yes. I've changed. I've become much more mature, have been using better sentence structure, and I don't have much bias left any more.

Thanks to anybody who takes their time to answer the questions.

If someone comes in that remembers 2006, they will be given a cookie.

1  Since late march. I have been a member of several other forums, always an easy guy to talk to.

2  Nah I'm the same guy, its only been 6 months or so.

3  I usually post several times one day and nothing in a day or two, then I'm back at it.

4  It's just maturity I think, depending on the change. If it is a good change then it is maturity, but if it's a bad change then they need to take a break from the forums :P.

1 How long have you been a member? What experience do you have in other forums, specifically gaming forums?

I've been a member for a little over a year, with very little experience in other forums. I've been a member at GameFAQs for many years, but I rarely ever post there.

2 Read your first few posts, do you yourself think that your style has changed? How much?

I don't think my style has changed, though as I post more, I've attempted to refine my sentences, and improve my spelling and grammar as best I can. When I post something, I'll always read it over, and I'll edit it right away if I realize that I could have written it in a way that I find to be clearer and more concise.

3 How often do you post a day? Has this changed from any other time period?

It varies. When I feel like posting, or involve myself in a discussion, I post quite a bit. I do go on long breaks though, where I'll post once every few days, if at all. I've hovered between 4.5-5 posts a day since I joined.

4 Answer the question in the thread title.

I would say that all posters change as time goes on, but most of the time it isn't apparent to anybody but themselves.

If you check my early post, I really hated the wii but somehow I have grown to actually understand its importance to our market.

Fix your grammar. If not, no one will take your posts seriously.
