Forums - Nintendo - What game will be the 9th million seller Wii game?

Mario and Sonic at the Olympics is another T-P game that will sell over 1 million this holiday season.  But not before Mario Strikers Charged, SMG, and GHIII.  I think MP3 will also break 1 million but am not sure about RE4, even though it is a great game.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Naz, Rayman already went platinum.

I agree with the order of your list, though.

FreeTalk, good example. Olympics games supposedly sell well (though I've never found one outside of a store shelf) and Mario and Sonic alone are worth a huge boost, let alone together.

@All the Sunshine haters.

Sunshine by itself was an EXCELENT plataformer... but it had HUMONGOUS shoes to fill (Mario 64), that doesn't makes it a bad game or a bad Mario game.

I agree with this. It's not so much that it was a bad game but that it was held up to some really high standards.

Just like every 3D Zelda after Ocarina of time was held up to really high standards.

True enough, but I think Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess were/are pretty good.

Both were very different takes instead of the traditional Zelda story.  While not all Zelda fans appreciated them, I thought they were both pretty fun.  The fact that every part of the town in MM was busily churning away during those 3 days was fantastic.  It was The Legend of Zelda meets Groundhog's Day.  I love Zelda and I love Groundhog's Day (and BIll Murray's acting) so it was win/win.  Twilight Princess was also amazing.

I'd mention Windwaker, but cellshading alone made that game unique let alone the rest of it.  ^_^

I totally agree with you on the Mario Kart point. Double Dash!! was superior to MK64 in numerous ways. The GP track design in MK64 was lacking, but the multiplayer was fantastic, while DKR had great single-player and poor multiplayer (though of course, is not a MK game). DD!! has the best of both worlds, and is easily the best console MK to date.

I do agree about MKDD and MK6, but the best marikart game is definetly MKDS.

The 9th Million Seller? Well I'm going to say Strikers will just edge it and then Galaxy will be 10th. RE4 and MP3 will enjoy the Christmas boost enough to get into the million territory too.

And then, 6 more games released in 2007 which I believe will eventually sell 1 million, albeit some may take a good year to do it:

Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Games
Rayman Raving Rabids 2
Zack and Wiki (Maybe :/)
Resident Evil: umbrella Chronicles
Wii Fit (1 Mil in Japan alone).
Guitar Hero III

In my opinion OoT is the worst 3D Zelda, that doesn't mean it's a bad game though.

Majora's Mask is probably my favorite because of the reason you mentioned, also thanks for mentioning Bill Murray otherwise I wouldn't have been able to figure out which movie you are talking about.

Wind Waker was very unique and a great game as well, so was Twilight Princess.

Basically, if you talk about the major Nintendo franchises and call a game the worst of the series, you are still talking about a very good game.

For the most part, I agree.  There are some exceptions like Philips CD Zelda games, but overall I have high expectations for Zelda games.  I'd ask you why you thought OoT was the worst Zelda game but we probably shouldn't derail this thread too far. ^_^

If Zack and Wiki hits a million ever, I'll do my happy dance.

I said Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. I know the first one did. I also added 2 more games to my list of possibles:

in this order:

Mario Strikers Charged
Super Mario Galaxy
Resident Evil 4 Wii
Metroid Prime 3

Games with a shot at it this year:
Manhunt 2
Mario & Sonic
Zack and Wiki (remember it's priced at $40)
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
Guitar Hero III

My mistake. I don't think it will sell a million this calendar year, though.

Is NiGHTS Japan only this year? Can't find anything on it's release date in NA or europe and really think I'll end up buying it. Probably won't hit Europe until Feb though.

Also, any reason why you're missing out RE:UC? That's one of the ones I feel is alot more likely then GHIII / NiGHTS / Manhunt 2 / Zack and Wiki.

I really want Z&W to be successful anyway, anything to make point n clicks get their well deserved resurrection :).
