I said 250k-300k so i was waaaay out and in all honesty shocked at those numbers.
In 7 days the slim sold 500k, that is purely epic numbers for an HD console.
To put that into some sort of perspective "if" these numbers are true then that means the PS3 has clawed back the 360's gap for 2009 in just 1 week, that shows you how competative the PS3 could have been from the start if Sony had done it right to begin with.
However i do find it all a bit suspicious like has happened in the past where the hype and early data has not quite been right. What makes me think this is simply down to the fact when i was in HMV on saturday there was shead loads of slims on the shelves. If we were told places only had limited stock and sold 1000% more this week then surely right now they would be sold out?
In the UK it is supposed to have sold at least 40k but on places like Amazon the slim barely makes it into the top 20 on hourly tracking. Surely if demand was that high it would be 1st?
Either way nobody can deny that Sony have done brilliant with the launch and have turned the tide. They have a chance now to catch up to the 360 and maybe even to the Wii.
What will be interesting is to see how both Nintendo and Microsoft respond to it.
So i was wrong on my prediction, waaaaay wrong. Good job Sony, black is back.
