I was playing Dragon Warrior 2 the other day, and realized that the phone conversation you have with your dad on Earthbound is a spoof of the conversation you have with the King to save in Dragon Warrior 2. This is something I hadn't noticed when playing through Dragon Warrior (1).

Can anyone else identify RPG references in Earthbound?
