That's not an excuse.  It is possible to mess up a particular type of character.

Yes the VA's are weird.....my mum said "what the hell is this game" when I was playing it during one of the embarassing VA scenes

It's not an excuse... because there is no excuse needed if that's what it's trying to convey. That the character is flighty and out of touch. Which... is actually a pretty well used archtype for such characters.

The guys voice is fine afterall.

No one in real life has ever said anything about FFX's VA to me.  Not a single mention.

That doesn't change the fact that SO:TLH has some really atrocious voice acting.

I don't really keep count but I don't talk about FFX with many people in real life.  But it is still wierd that none of my real life acquantinces every mention FFX's VA to me.

All i can go by is the clip you provided... which had one guy who's voice acting was fine... and another character who's voiceacting who seems deliberate.

The idea that Dubbed voice actors 'intentionally' act bad is just....wow.

Come on people.  Voice Acting for games has always been treated as badly as voice acting for Anime.  Its done as quickly and cheaply as possible because they know people will buy the game regardless of how the voices sound.  The very fact that games like this and FFX sold so many copies is proof of that.  They don't even need to have good voice acting for dubs in the first place, as the whole purpose for dubbing is replacing the original voices for a specific group of people who can't tolerate listening to Japanese voices.  These people are already closing their minds to the option of checking out the original voices, so its pretty safe to say they could have Brittany Spears and Keanu Reeves doing the voices and these people would still think they were 'superior' just because they were in 'English'.

The voice cast in Final Fantasy XII would argue against that point for originally-Japanese casts, and every game ever put out by Black Isle Studios/Obsidian Entertainment and BioWare would argue against that point on behalf of Western games. Hell, there are hundreds of games that have excellent voice work. What kind of thing to say is this?

I think he means Japanese stuff. I'm sure he's aware of great voice acting in westerm made games.

And I also believe FFXII is the exception.
