Forums - Sony - Rockstar Games: Agent in 2010

Console wars aside, since it's PS3 exclusive, the really cool stuff is that they now can use the Blu-Ray at maximum capacity, just imagine the topic of the game: It occurs in Cold War times (screw WWII, Cold War is my favorite contemporary history topic), and it's a sandbox game, the thing can take place in anywhere in the world, the USA, USSR, Western and Eastern Europe, China, the Koreas, Vietnam, the Latin American communist & capitalist dictatorships, etc., with 25/50 GB on a single disc the possibilities are endless...

Yeah, i would def like to see something like this.

I also heard rumours of GTA 5 coming out next year as well. Since that is likely true, then Agent would be made by the Rockstar North B team. The question is whether or not the B team is any good or even holds a candle to the A team?

I knew it was a matter of time before Squilliam would show up.

I highly doubt that...

The concept of a sequel coming out 30 months after the first game of the generation is inplausible to you?

Oh, I just noticed this, "“PS3 PLEASE, dont forget that Grand Theft Auto originated on the Playstation system (PS1)” - anthonycr".

It was released on the PC first, almost a year before the PS1 version.

@ Squilliam

We all know GTA5 will be made but 2010 is way too early man...they haven't even announced the title yet and such a big game will most likely be announced at E3 2010...even if it were announced then, I really can't see this game releasing 6 months after it's announced...I'm thinking summer 2011.

They made no mention of GTA 5. Implausible, no. Improbable, yes.

Are you jaded that it won't be coming to the 360?

GTA 5 is confirmed for a 2011 according to Rockstar Financial reports - do some googling as I cba to find the source. Obviously it's been in developement since GTAIV, with a full team on it.

And I've no idea why you feel the studio's have an A or B team, so to speak. An obvious example is Insomniac - neither Resistance or Ratchet and Clank are lesser to one or another, both pure quality games (Another example is EA's Redwoods studio). I'd imagine a studio the size of Rockstar North has equal talent in all developement teams.

Its also a game which doesn't need 12 months to build up hype and expectation for. Infact giving too much lead time may be counter-productive as it gives people time to build up expectations that no game can ever fulfill, ala GTA IV.

No, it'll play just fine on my launch 60GB PS3.

Financial year 2011? Which goes from April 2010 to march 2011.

Insomniac use a completely different model so they aren't exactly comparable. The question isn't about the talent of the development team, its the talents of the design team which craft the good experience that people actually play that are in question. Rockstar makes a lot of games, but its only the GTA team whom shine.

As an example, it would be like hyping the title of a Bethesda open world RPG title without confirmation that its the Elder Scroll team members working on it. Bethesda are very comparable to this situation with a big studio(s) and only really one massive franchise.
