Forums - Gaming - Can Forza 3 beat GT5 on Metacritic?

GT5 - about 1000 cars but, only 170 are partly visually damageable(no engine damage and physics aspect), no rollover, inferior multiplayer, inferior tunning aspect, less tracks, inferior driving model, less variety in car selection, no ingame auction house, nascar tracks, wrc-kind-of tracks,

I'm sorry, but I have to ask you this: "Where, in the name of the devils and gods, did you came up with all that BS???!!!" (the bolded part)

1000 cars vs 400+ cars but less variety???!!! (ok, no Porsche's, but that's is, come on man)

inferior driving model????!!!! - I would go with at least as good a driving model. (Stating that unanounched specifics will not be there is fanboysh)

no engine damage and physics aspect???!!! - infirmed

inferior multiplayer????!!!! - how?

inferior tuning aspect???!!! - painting is not a big plus from a racing or driving simulation point of view. If you're talking about NFS Most Wanted and all that, that's another thing.

That is because MS has a partnership with McLaren on software. Now Turn 10 got to reap some benefits of that partnership.

LOL Windows breaks down, and yet Every single F1 car on the grid has M$/Mclaren software and electronics running the thing. The worlds most complex cars, and faster than any motorbike round any circuit and they rely on M$. LOL. See the irony. :)

@ithis,

1. Forza 3 is using assets, driving model and physics from the most realistic driving simulator ever created for Maclaren F1 racing team that is far superior than anything Gt5 would ever had. it's even superior than pc racing sims and that means a lot.

2. Yamauchi confirmed that so far there is only visual damage in GT5 and it's not even finished yet even for those 170 cars.

3. sorry, but GT5 won't even beat Forza 2 and from what we know Turn 10 worked with professional tuners and some of the best Forza 2 tuners to make this part of the game even better than before. Forza 2 was already second to none.

4. Turn 10 confirmed that there will be many multiplayer modes never seen before in racing games like team races etc. besides we're talking here about whole community, auction house, ability to share your own replay movies, ability download someone elses movies and make them into movies etc.

5. car selection in Forza 3: suvs, vans, exotics, muscle cars, american classics, european sports cars, european classics, european cars, japanese tuners, wrc cars, Le Mans cars, porsches, probably F1 cars etc.

I think it will, Gran Turismo ain't what it use to be.

Forza Motorsport is the true definition of simulation.

Besides that, in the time it took to make a GT5. We got 2 Forza Motorsport's  a  GT5 Prologue, and a GT5 HD Concept.

Turn10 gonna light a fire up under their ass.

Polophony has alot to prove.

Forza Motorsport series > > > any sim ever made.

Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo Faced off in 2005 with part 1 versus part 4.

Forza Motorsport recieved a 92 while Gran Turismo 4 scored a 89.

Then in 2007 Forza Motorsport 2 and GT5 Prologue came out and scored a 90 and 80 respectively.

Gran turismo fell off it's perch as the best driving sim ever made since Forza Motorsport series was introduced in 2005 and replaced it.

So to think automatically that GT5 is going to be the better game is a little premature.

Regardless, we should be in for hell of a ride with both appealing to each of their respective auidences.

Their's no way though Forza 3 will be beat online though. PSN just doesn't have it. I know that for a fact. Also PS3's arent equipped with headset's either so online GT is going to be boring as fuck for most people. Even still XBL is the premiere online gaming space.

It's important to remeber though, we have seen alot more of Forza 3 than GT5. I say wait for both final releases. Turn 10 are very lucky to have acces to the best simulation in the world though.

1. Assumption presented as fact. Bad. Plus don't forget that the Cell is better at simulating physics. Can do more stuff at once. The McLaren F1 best racing simulator ever does not run on a Xbox360.

2. Can't you read the frickong link I gave? No? Ok. Here's the quote from the horses mouth:

MultiPlayer:  How the damages will influence the gameplay?
KY: ”The damages are not only visible, they will affect the driving style.
It depends on the player, some players will like it, others will not”

3. If you're talking paint stuff, you might be right. If you're talking car setup and engine, mechanical, electhronics tuning, GT4 worked wtih aftermarket car parts producers, and GT4 was before Forza 2, remember?

4. PD confirmed that there will be a lot of online stuff that we still do not know much about. But I wouldn't expect team racing and all that street stuff. And talking about community, see tha series install base and hardcore followers for starters.

5. car selection in GT4: suvs - check, vans - check, exotics(what are those?), muscle cars - check, american classics - check, european sports cars - check, european classics - check, european cars - check, japanese tuners - check, wrc cars - check, Le Mans cars - check, porsches(nope :( ), probably F1 cars etc. + European Tuners, American Tuners, Unheared off tuners, waky cars, unique cars and a ton off concepts.

+GT5 - at least one F1 car confirmed, unique GT cars, Jay Leno's Tank Car (was in GT4 too). 1000+ cars....insane stuff

Forza 3 wins this one. GT has nostalgia, and brand recognition. My biggest gripe with GT is the lack of sense of speed when driving.

I never thought about this aspect. Is it because GT is more realistic, with maximum lap times that mirror real life records?

Forzas laptimes are realistic as well. Check them on the official Forza website against realife laps. Sense of speed doesn't come from increasing the speed the course goes by. It's done by effects. Forza 2's sense of speed wasn't that great. Something that has now been praised by media for Forza 3.
