the ps3 slim isnt making a profit and they are still losing money. when teh ps3 slim fails that will be it for the ps3. now if the ps4 fails as well sony will be leaving the game market behind. which is almost a reality.

Actually the PS3 is being worked on as I type this, a ps3 chip should be out before the year ends now that bluray burners are out and dropping in price, the ps3 is being cracked by the same team that hacked the 360, woot!
Back to topic, I do think this *could* be the ps3's last chance, if the slim and price cut don't do wonders I hate to think what will happen to the ps3 and maybe even the playstation brand, time will tell I guess but whatever happens it should be a very interesting ride over the next few months!

Actually the PS3 has been worked on since release 
And the cost problem is in the Blue-Ray discs not burners

Actually no, c4eva has only just got involved in hacking the ps3, he posted an update saying he expects a chip to be ready for testing in the next two months, c4eva is the person that hacked the 360's dvd drive making the 360 flashable,
Bluray discs are dropping in price although still expensive, they should be much cheaper within the next six months.

VGC only has the data for PS1 sales in Japan. You can't compare them to the PS3 or X360 numbers.
