Forums - General - Cat sitting a big cat

Hello. I am going on vacation to the Bahamas in a couple months. I have never had someone catsit my big kitty. I've had her for a few years - she is big now.

I have never left her alone - and I'm worried about her at a pet hotel.

Has anyone ever used a pet hotel? What about private sitters? Do the pet hotels feed the animals or do you need to bring food for your pets?

She's got a healthy appetite. Thanks.

I think you mean a cattery? We left our 2 cats in a cattery and they fed them, kept their water topped up and cleaned out the litter tray (we just had to tell them the brands). We left a few toys and stuff from home to help them get accutomed to the new smells etc. However, they hated it! They had a run/pen of their own but were within viewing distance of other cats, and they generally hate other cats, lol.

If you have to go down the cattery route, make sure you do your homework and check the place in person before you take them there. Never used a private sitter. If you get someone to catsit I'd suggest getting a trusted friend to look after her.

Ok, I'm kind of concerned. Thanks for your help.

For you cat folks, here's a picture of her:

O.O THAT's a cat?!

I get that a lot

Seriously, I thought it was cool to have a cougar for a while - she's much bigger now. And I can't go on a vacation that's why I'm looking for a sitter or a pet hotel.

This is driving me INSANE.

I've got a feeling that you're going to have to make some special arrangements to take care of your pet cougar. You don't have any friends who are familiar with her and could toss her a steak every day or so?

I don't think it would be wise to leave a not-so-domestic animal with strangers.

@ Ringo

I know what you are talking about. I was telling this co-worker about my cat and she came by the house - and saw the cat. She saw it and passed out.

I'll take your advice. Thanks for your responses.

XD

I entered expecting to see a normal sized cat sitting atop a larger obese cat. I entered, was disapointed, re-read the topic title, and now I bid you all a howdy fucking adieu!

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

You should get vagabond here to take care of your cat. He seems to think that cougars are no big deal.

Don't be surprised if your cat knows a couple new drinking games when you get back, though.
