 Took the words straight out of my mouth. 

 Personally, he looks like a suit of armor more than a robot.  Lose the random little balls and add some sort of skeleton or something that connects at least some of the pieces.  Even strands of electricity could work for me.  Also, I don't know what you want your environments to look like but find a color palette and make sure an all blue character won't blend in too much with the environment.  Even Megaman has some color to him.

 Wish I could give you more advice, but I'm more of a gameplay person and not so much character design.

Doesn't look enough like Mazinger Z. The Ultimate robot who could throw his arms and had a host of other abilties.

Otherwise... I agree he needs to look a little more robot like.

Definitely a power ranger. Very plain looking. The floating ball joints look much better in "The Dude's" rendition. If it's supposed to be a robot, maybe fill in the empty space with electronics/wires. And, the shooting arms definitely sounds like Mazinger Z AKA Tranzor Z. "Rocket punch!"

Actually I just realized that other then the empty parts he looks EXACTLY like a character from Base Wars.

They had a rocket punch too. I tried to play that the other day but i totally forgot how to turn "MAN" off on season mode. Which doesn't seem like it should be impossible, what with the 4 total buttons but i couldn't figure it out.
