Forums - Gaming - 09/09/2009 10th Anniversary of Dreamcast NA launch-Doing anything special?

Just wondering if any Dreamcast owners amoung you were planning to mark the day by playing a whole pile of Dreamcast games.

I am going to try to play some like Shenmue, Draconus, Max Steel, Illbleed, Red Dog or Legacy Of Kain that I've tried to get through in the past, but for one reason or another never did finish.

With the Sakura Wars series coming to the Wii, I would like to download the faqs for the four Dreamcast games, and give them a whirl before that happens.

Games like Sonic Adventure 1&2, REZ, MSR, Skies, GrandiaII, Soul Calibur, Cosmic Smash, MvsC2 etc. get played year round, so to mark the day some of the lesser known but still quite good games will be played.

Anyone digging out their maracas for some Samba shaking, or the keyboard for some Typing Of The Dead?

Great console with so many fine games, please fill us in on your plans.

Poor Dreamcast you were so amazing RIP

Long Live SHIO!

It is really too bad that Sega was so broke when they launched the Dreamcast, as they got it right with it's features, the games were amazing, and through VGA most still look great today. The only console of it's generation(PS2,GCN & X-BOX) to natively output 480P.

Yes, Sega is now a Software only company, which is too bad, as their last console was great.

Yes it's sad that John Q Public chose a DVD player over a Gaming Machine with on-line capability right out of the box, and a ton of good games too boot. The PS2 library NOW is quite good, but the first year it sucked, so the only reason for choosing a PS2 over a Dreamcast was for it's ability to play DVD's, not the games.

Piracy also played a part in it's demise. as Sega desperately needed the money from the software to keep the DC going.

I love my Sega Dreamcast... Sonic Adventure... You pleased me. Evolution... You pleased me as well. Crazy Taxi, you and your Offspring music were awesome. Gundam, I loved blowing up trains Down Under with you... Why did you have to die?!?! It wasn't his time, Jesus...

So many fine games in such a short time span, with everyones Top 10 favourite being different.

Does anyone still go online with it to play the games still there?

How about a 24 hr Dreamcast Marathon?
