My copy of Sonic Jam for the Saturn(has Sonic 1,2,3 and S+K) also allows you to use the lock-on technology with the other Sonic games in the collection and that compilation was released in 1997! I picked it up for ~$1 or so, used in some game shop here in Japan, hehe.

Anyway, good stuff for people who don't have Saturns/didn't get a chance to play the originals back in the day. I'd probably buy it again if I didn't have my Saturn(s) hooked up to my tv's already. :)

I have Sonic Jam for my saturn and will still be buying this day 1. Achevements, upscalled graphics...etc. You can play this game with lock on on emulators to, I have that as well.

Here is a little trivia for all...did you guys know that Sonic 1 on the saturn Sonic Jam collection was revised to include spin dash attack. Its the only version to include this...

that doesnt do lock on tech for these games. LEt me explain what this will give you

Sonic 1 + Sonic and knuckles= 100s of new bonus stages

Sonic 2 + sonic and knuckles = lets you play as knuckles in sonic 2

Sonic 3 + sonic and knuckles = lets you play an all new adventure with tails, sonic or knuckles, which includes levels from sonic 3 and S&K, lets sonic turn in to hyper sonic, lets knuckles become super knuckles and lets tails become super tails.

Technically you could lock on any genesis cartrige and you would get a screen that says NO WAY! NO WAY?. If you push ABC in the genesis controller you would get 1 new bonus stage to play. Wonder if that will work...doubt it.
