Forums - Gaming - Anyone ever read Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Outlaws of the Marsh?

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the novel responsible for the ROTK, Dynasty Warriors, Kessen, and other games from Koei.

Outlaws of the Marsh is the novel where each Suikoden bases it's story from.

Just wondering if anyone else around here (aside from myself) took the time to read these masterpieces?

ROTK, yes, OOTM, no.

You get the unabridged version? the 2000+ page long one? I found one, in a pile of super old books, in Singapore.

First Edition too. Zhang Fei's scene at the bridge is awesome in the original version.

Oh, I see you like history novels. Did you read Shōgun? Obviously it's not a classic like ROTK, but it's quite passable.

2000 pages? Mine has 700 or so, IIRC.

Yes! I loved that book to hell. Mariko-san was the first imaginary woman I ever fell in love with (I'm a nerd).

Back when I was a kid (LONG time ago), there was an awesome ecranisation of Shōgun, with Richard Chamberlain starring in it.

Oh I have that on DVD. Noble House (another of James Clavell's books, read em all) was also made into a movie starring Pierce Brosnan.

I watched the show romance of the three kingdoms, love the game series one of my favorite of all time

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.
