Forums - Sony - Sony's First party rpg

I really could care less if Sony's RPGs are internally developed or developed by 2nd party or 3rd party. As long as the quality of the game is good, it doesn't matter to me who develops it. Maybe Sony doesn't see the profitability financing internal 1st party studios to develop RPGs, which in recent years have become a genre that generally doesn't sell that well (with a few exceptions). It's always cheaper to just outsource it to some other studio.

Basically by "official" definition Halo is no longer considered a 1st party title for the XBox because Bungie is now an independent developer.

Ok ...but you still haven't commented on Metroid: Other M????...thats not 1st party????...wat you want is a internally develop game by SONY themselves thats fine, BUT all those 10 of those series are SONY OWNED...so regardless of who develops them THEY ARE STILL 1st Party games..1st party and internally are slightly different terms that you've mixed up

Music were not talkin bout Quality...were talkin about fact that he believes SONY IP are not 1st party if they arnt develop by SONY themselves..which is false thats why i used Metroid: Prime and Other M as examples

You guys are arguing semantics.  His basic point was that he wants Sony to create an RPG from its internal studios, most likely because Sony's internal studios generally make awesome games.

Yes, he may have worded it weird, but that's what he was trying to say.  Sony may have exclusive RPGs from other developers, but none of them are on the level of something like God of War.

Lol, thank you music

@xxain

music has said that metroid is made by retro, retro is owned by nintendo making retro first party.

and i even repeated it because you didnt seem to catch it the first time.

now im repeating it again.

NO!! Metroid: Prime is made by retro.. Metroid: Other M is being developed by Team Ninja( worked on PS3,360, games)...so by definition Metroid: Other M isnt 1st party

And Metroid Prime Pinball is made by Fuse Games, which is a 2nd party developer.

Also, if people want to play the technicality game, Fable 1 should not technically be considered a 1st party game because it was released in 2004. Lionhead Studios wasn't acquired by Microsoft until 2006. Before 2006, Lionhead was an independent studio that primarily worked on PC games.

The problem with this is he has terms mixed up......and it doesn't help that Music is floating off in space talkin about a different topic. hell i guess ZELDA Minish Cap isnt 1st party either since CAPCOM made it or Pilot Wings

And Halo isn't a 1st party game anymore for MS since Bungie has gone independent.

Sony used to have the number one MMORPG in EverQuest also but then WoW came along and made it ancient history.
