Forums - Sony - Sony's First party rpg

this is my first thread on vgcharts been lurking for about 2 months now and came out a few days ago and started posting so hey :D

but what i really want to know is why doesnt sony have a first party rpg? like how microsoft has fable, and nintendo has zelda and pokemon?
[im aware zelda is more of an adventure game but it has rpg elements]

discuss.

EDIT: This Generation, on the playstation 3

Well there's always Untold Legends which was ok... But I don't understand why the RPG genre is forgotten that much this gen.

They always had Square Enix, so they never really bothered after the Legend of Dragoon. However, now that they don't have 90% of Square games exclusive to their consoles, I'm sure they're looking to expand, much like how they tackled the FPS genre at the end of last year with the purchase of Zipper Interactive and Guerrilla Games.

Of course, they still have a strong relationship with Level 5, and I'm loving their newly formed relationship with From Software. I do expect them to start working on an RPG internally at some point, even if it means buying a developer to make it so.

Untold Legends
Legend of Dragoon
Arc the Lad
Wild Arms
Alundra
Dark Cloud
Jeanne d'Arc
Legend of Lagaia
Rogue Galaxy
White Knight Chronicles

All of these IP's are owned by SONY. Some are developed by second parties.

Also I remember a while back SONY saying they have 5 RPG's being internally developed... Still haven't heard anything so I'm hoping for something to be anounced at TGS.

Even so, sony should have a first party developer for every major genre i think, considering 3rd party exclusives are becoming a thing of the past and i think they'll continue to dwindle over time.

i like the way WKC looks, and demon souls i have them both pre ordered. but i want to see something insane form a first party team
