Forums - Gaming - Just got a Samsung series 6 46"( LN46B610A4F)

Not exacltly blown-away. For many things my old Sony Trinitron which just broke -a 36'' 4:3 CRT tv that did 720p and 1080i- seemed better. ALOT of settings to tweak both on the new tv and PS3. Not sold on the 120hz thing or the auto-motion plus feature. This tv MANGLES an sd tv signal and my DVDs don't look as good either. An expensive item to be so underwhelmed by. With true motion off, there seems to be some bluring. With it on...it just doesn't look right...yet. I mean, the color and resolution are great, it's just not wowing me like my last tv upgrade. I wonder if I should take it back and get a plasma? I do know I'm going to keep my last Sony tv and get it repaired. Anyway, just rambling till' my laundry is done.

If its your gaming TV then do not get a plasma. There are a few settings you have to turn on in the PS3, basically both HDMI options, they make a huge difference. I think you also have to tell your PS3 to upscale DVDs in a menu somewhere, I wouldnt know since I dont watch DVDs anymore.

Is this a LED TV?

Thanks. I think I have all the PS3 options i should have either turned on or set to auto. There was one option that I can't remember right now that I'll have to faq later. I could turn said option to "limited" or "full". Not sure what to do about "superwhite" either. And yeah it's my gaming tv. Plasma's no good for gaming?

I don't think so. A bit confused about that actually. I saw the hyper-expensive LED's in the store, but don't some LCD tvs have LED-based/enhanced tech now? So ignorant. And I can't even find my model on google. Must have written the model # incorrectly.

Do you use it's game mode which turns auto-motion off? Do you tweak the settings yourself and manually turn it off? Or do you keep Auto-motion on? Just curious since our sets are so similar. I liked the Auto-motion for Super Stardust, not so much for Mirror's Edge. And here's a strange one. When I switch to the HDMI channel that my PS3 is using , I get a little status bar in the corner of the screen. It always says the TV is dislaying in 60hz, even when I have 120hz on. I may have to call the Future-Shop guys to come take a look on that one.

Just googled it. Samsung has 2 lines of LED tvs. The Series 7 which is entry level LED and the series 8 which is alot pricier tricked-out LED.
