Thats sad man. No one benefits form this. Sony has to sell you a console at a loss. You have to buy another console at a loss or repair the curret one at a loss. Considering yours has BC, id say repair it.

These consoles today are messed up... My genesis, 32x and sega CD dont miss a beat but I had problems with PS1, PS2 and Xbox360. Pretty much everything i owned that was CD based other than Saturn and Dreamcast.

iys because contrary to popular belief...stronger the tech, greater the fail rate

Well that partially true but there are exceptions...

Xbox1 from what ive heard was quite sturdy and it lasted a long time and it was the most powerful console last gen.

Dreamcast has like...no fail rate, everyone i know that has a dreamcast has theirs working still. And when it came out in 1998 it was leaps and bounds ahead of anything tech wise. It gave PCs a run for its money if you think about games coming out in 1998...at a 640x480 resolution atleast :)

Really? Mine seemed broken, the lens was unreliable (couldn't read games 90% of the time). Looking online now though, there's probably an easy fix... oh well, don't mind having 2 Dreamcasts lying around here.

Oh, and YLOD definitely sucks. I'll be pissed if my 60GB dies.

this is what happens when you own 60GB PS3..the most unreliable PS3 model ever

Hey, why don't you try this?

You may spend some time on it, but it's a 60gb!! You must save it!!

Good luck man :)

While I was in the middle of a match on cod4 yesterday it sounded like my ps3's fan went on overdrive.
I pulled it out and made it so that the air could circulate a lot better and finished the match up.
(I couldn't quit, I had like 3 helicopters :D. Ended up with 60-4-13 I think)

I turned it on minutes later and it came on just fine and no loud fan. I will try it out later after class and make sure it's fine.

not true...the first dreamcast I bought (new) didn't work out of the box it wouldn't read discs...next day I returned it in exchange for a new one and 2 years later it stopped reading some of my games and its not the discs because I tried them on my cousins dreamcast and they worked

I had very bad luck with the dreamcast

As much as I still love my dreamcast I had problems similar problems with it reading GD's.

I never thought of trying the disc in another dreamcast just presumed it was the couple of games as the rest could still be read.

I find this amusing...and ironic.

I shut it off from behind to see what happens and it does the same thing..

I really want to know what causes the YLOD.. my console was cold not even close to overheating, AND I have a game in there and I cant get it out -_-

I heard the YLOD was a hardrive error but it could most probably mean alot of different technical problems.

Sorry to hear about your 60GB PS3 breaking down after almost 3 years.
leo-j get a job and save up and buy your own PS3 Slim and you will appreciate it much more.

If you plan on gettin a slim, I'd tear it apart and get your game and sell your ps3 piece by piece. You'll prolly make twice as much as you paid for it

Sorry to hear that, my 80gb PS3 with BC broke back in July [stopped reading discs], I managed to sell it for 250 dollars in a broken state. I used those 250 dollars to buy a new 80gb PS3 with BC on Ebay for 480 Dollars with 2 games, extra Dualshock 3 AND a 3 year warranty. You see I would have sent it in to get it fixed by sony for 150+tax but I was afraid that since after it gets fixed it only has a 90 day warranty that it would break again sometime after those 90 days and then I'd be fucked. So I put in a little extra and now have a Brand New 80gb PS3 with BC. [I just got it in the mail last week, took my a while to get the extra cash >_>]
