Forums - Sony - Sony is back! PS3 seems to be a much better value than Xbox 360 after all.

PS4 should have a basic skew and a loaded one, but the basic one should cost more to get it everything the loaded one comes with it should also feature old technology, hardware failures every 6 months or so and charge for access to free content ( i know i know )

That would sell like hotcakes right!!!!

If you dont want to be forced to buy everything off the hop i get it however for those of us that can afford a 1 time fee for a fully loaded/functional system
IT IS A BETTER VALUE
like it or not, BMW are of better build quality and durability then N/A cars but I dont see everyone bitching at BMW for costing more.

You don't see, nor are you likely ever to see, BMW selling nearly as many cars as Ford or GM.  There's an upside and a downside of building a do-it-all console, so I'm certainly not going to argue with the idea that Sony screwed up not addressing both ends of the console market.  But the key distinction here is that software availability and price are king.  Most consumers don't give a rat's patootie how powerful the Cell is... they just want great games.  With cars you don't have nearly the market for follow-up sales as they don't run software you buy at a store.

Now the REAL winner in the next gen might just be whoever builds a low-end system that is cheap to upgrade... that would be something.

Hate that idea for consoles myself maybe a HD (ps3 anyone) But even by allowing people to upgrade the ram in a console its more or less a gaming computer then, which takes away from the plug and play ability of a console.

I think a better solution would be for the likes of console makers to stop saying how little ram can we get away with, and start saying how much ram is more then enough for 2020/25 era, stop going x4 and go 10 or 20

Around the Network

I guess I could have been clearer.  The upgrades I was referring to are WiFi, hard drive, etc.  Not RAM.  That way the user can buy into a very low-end system and then get the upgrades when/if he needs them for cheap.
