both mentioned models have the same contrasts.

Contrast ratio is a worthless number as white luminosity and black luminosity come in several variances (Peak, Calibrated, Normal vs Screen, Calibrated) so you can't trust the numbers at all.  At the same time there are a number of non-TV-related factors that influence contrast making the statistic even less useful.

erm i read reviews technical ones

black levels and contrast for both samsung and sony LCD

blacks go as 0.14.

contrast around 2200

panasonic new LCDS taken a hit, the new one kinda don't have good blacks.

Thanks for the info, I have done a little more looking and so far I haven't seen a Sony TV that is 720p with a refresh rate of 120hz, they are all 60hz. Would the 120hz upgrade be useless on a 32" tv? I wouldn't think so.

And @1080p on 32", so there won't be ANY difference in the picture at all on a 32" between 720p and 1080p?

EDIT: I saw this tv before but I went browsing on the sonystyle website to find the specs I was looking for and I found this tv
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665746294#specifications

From reading some articles I was under the impression that if a tv had the 24p True Cinema feature then it was 120hz, hovever
this tv is 24p and it doesn't specify what refresh rate it has, but it does say this "CineMotion® Reverse 3:2 Pulldown Technology : Yes"
So I'm guessing this tv doesn't have the better picture ratio..

But then I look on the overview of the TV and theres this paragraph:

"24p True Cinema™

24p True Cinema mode provides a direct connection to 24p video sources, avoiding conversions and allowing users to enjoy films at their intended 24 fps (frames per second) cinematic picture quality when using a 24p-capable output device, such as a Blu-ray Disc™ player or PLAYSTATION®3 entertainment system."

Which rubs off that it uses the correct format that the bluray supports. What the hell? So is this TV the right quality or not?

Contrast is worthless.  As far as black levels:

In plasmas specifically, Panasonic usually has better blacks while Samsung has more vivid colors (older Samsungs have some problems though).

A TV is 120Hz if it says it's 120Hz.  The 32L5000 is 60Hz.

^so I guess if I get a tv with "24p technology" then it won't have the same quality on blurays and stuff as the 120hz.
Would it still be a pretty high quality TV to get, only for $500?

EDIT: I think I will settle with this tv, I'm usually too picky when I want something and I guess I don't need it to be a super tv,
just a decent one to last me a while in a bedroom.

As long as you're not kicking yourself later over what you could have had.

^Yeah that's what I worry about, I don't mind paying the extra cash for a guarantee that something is high quality. Though for what I will use it for, I don't need it to be the highest quality.

The reviews on the net are overall better than the xbr's. I won't buy the TV until around the time I get the PS3 slim (Waiting on more news of the GT5 bundle). Maybe by that time I will find a better deal and go with the xbr.
