Why not 1080p? Isn't God of War III 1080p? I'll be there day one, either way.
However, this is important in that it shows Sony is going to be pushing God of War III very hard. With this move they're probably attempting to expand the God of War fanbase (God of War II's sales were certainly hurt in the shuffle to next gen, and God of War was more of a slow burner. It wasn't really pushed by Sony). This is probably their attempt to turn the franchise into something big (or rather, bigger than it already is), and if this sells well enough, God of War III could push 4 million units, instead of the 3 million I originally thought.
Hopefully this means Sony is starting to take their franchises seriously. Last gen their titles just filled in the gaps in their line up, and outside of Gran Turismo, merely sold enough to be profitable and some change. Earlier this gen, Sony still had a last gen mentality, where they didn't really push their first party offerings like Microsoft or Nintendo. They instead assumed people would buy their console just because its PlayStation and has a lot of (mostly third party) games. Obviously, they were wrong.
With Killzone 2 (and to a lesser extent InFamous - it had ads in movie theaters 0_o), it looks like Sony is finally starting to push their franchises into the limelight. Of course, even their attempt with Killzone was kinda half-assed outside of Europe. This shows that they have the right ideas in mind, though, and hopefully it means Uncharted 2 will get the ad campaign the first deserved. Uncharted should've outsold the ps3 version of Assassin's Creed over the '07 holiday season, but it didn't. Hopefully we'll see Uncharted 2 best Assassin's Creed 2 this year. However, it all depends on marketing.
