Spider-Man 4 plays for 20 minutes then...Parker busts into song and dance! Rinse and repeat EVERY 20 FUCKING MINUTES!

Or Spider-Man and Mickey-Mouse work together to bring down evil. (all Mickey Mouse does is sign autographs and sing for kids watching the fight lol)

shocked at the siliness of people here

Disney has given us more than any other film company, our childhood belongs to them.

never forget Alladin & Lion King!

yes, they USED to be the best. Now they're making stupid girly teen shows just to get the money from rich sopiled teenage girls.

Dreamworks>>>>>Disney any day

What the hell? Not at this announcement, at some of the people here. They're not going to make games with Wolverine in a tutu or whatever people here are saying. Disney just recognizes Marvel as a successful company. I assume this would give Disney control of successful film IPs by Marvel such as Iron Man, X-Men, and (blecch) Fantastic Four. Oh, and did I mention ****ING SPIDERMAN? That too. They'd also probably receive royalties on these games.

Disney just wants money, they don't want to ruin your childhood memories. In fact, Disney is your childhood.

Disney often likes to meddle in the operation of companies they buy... not always, but often.  I don't know that they're going to meddle, but having worked for a fortune 100 company for 20 years, I've seen how tempting it is to try and "integrate" how businesses work.  Sony's media group just about destroyed the PS3, price-wise, by insisting that the PS3 support Blu-Ray as the built-in drive.

So, is Disney going to interfere in the operation of Marvel?  I don't know.  Would Disney have been able to interfere in the operation of Marvel as an independent company?  Not really... at least not at the level they could now.

So while I agree that saying this was a bad move for Marvel might sound alarmist, I think it's more of a warning... Disney now has the ability to inadvertantly, and with every good intention, destroy the empire that Marvel built.  Will it?  I have no clue.

That is the great fear...but the hope is that Marvel has basically been an ATM for the last 5-6 years, and Dsiney only needs to increase the profit margins by consolidating cost.  In the live action realm...Disney needs more source material...sure POTC was a goldmine, but other attempts weren't as successful, whereas Marvel has a proven track record. Back in 2002-2003, when I was HEAVILY into Marvel, we would rave about how Marvel was the new Disney...little did we know...lol.  Actually, during Pixar's squabbles with Disney, we had really hoped for Pixar and Marvel to merge...forming a new media powerhouse, and hte new IT studio...but that didn't happen.

Hey, these are the same people who still insist Nintendo just makes games for kids, despite Nintendo finding massive success with gamers even older than those who play the HD systems. Of course they think Disney is only going to do things like that.

And if Disney insists that all the crap with the civil war and the subsequent events, Spider Man having his marriage erased, the X-Men suddenly turning into assholes, I am all for this buyout.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

The Big Disney Reboot to End all Reboots.  Interesting...

Actually comic books have been stupid for a looong time. Not just what lordnightflash siad, but also infinite crisis for the dc side.
Dc isn't anything but superman and batman though, so it doesn't really matter.
