I don't think UBW abandoned Saber at all like HF's.

Saber made it a point to watch Shirou fight against SPOILER.
SPOILER himself knew and spoke about Saber's past and how he regretted following his dream of saving everybody.

Shirou won and proved SPOILER wrong, and Saber can return and die at peace, learning from Shirou that her path was not a mistake, despite the outcome, and die at peace.

I dunno but the love relationship only makes it seem like Saber is dependant on Shirou for salvation and that's just not true.
