So you're telling me that MS is doing an advertisement blitzkrieg in stores for one week? I don't think that will have much effect in the overall scheme tbh.
Come on people, this is the beginning of September. The fact that Sony unleashed the $299.99 price point now is bizarre in it's self. Yeah, we're going to see a big ps3 boost for the next month or two but this ain't buying season. The long run advertisement is the real key for the slim.
The same can be said about the 360. But nothing big happened on the MS side. Yeah, the pro got a new name, but it's nowhere near a change as ps3's shift. And I think the sales will show that Sony's finally arrived to the ballpark. Of course I don't think it'll hit a game-changing home run, but it's not going to die and it's thunder is far from stolen.
I think that if Sony dropped the price of the ps3 much closer to the holidays, MS would've crushed them. But since that's not the case and the ps3 price point has a chance to sink in to future console consumers, I think we'll be seeing some healthy competition among the ps3 and Xbox come Christmas instead of the thunder stealing, Microsoft steam roller that this thread is predicting.
Anyway, that's just my $599 US dollars
