For me the best part of Uncharted is the cast. I love the whole 80s action flick feel of the game and the way the characters interact. The wordplay between them, things like that. And this is coming from a guy that generally dislikes cheesy 80s action flicks.
I think the characters and the whole "movie that's a game" feel is what draws most people in (backed up by decent shooting and exploration gameplay, of course), and if you don't have a certain personality type, you won't quite enjoy it near as much as guys like I do.
I haven't seen Twesterm around much, but If I recall correctly Uncharted is his favorite ps3 game (or was). Yes, the somewhat cynical and negative Twesterm loves Uncharted. It's because of the atmosphere! I tell you!
I honestly think Uncharted is one of the best mixes of movie and game we've seen this gen. It provides a great story through a cast that always provides a chuckle without forcing you to watch long, drawn out cutscenes like MGS4, and without constantly taking away control from the character. It's the perfect mix of gameplay and story.
Now if only they could fine tune the balance of exploration and shooting. Supposedly they're upping the amount of exploration in the sequel, though, so that's good.
