Forums - Microsoft - Why Xbox Live is Worth the Price

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has been going head to head with Sony's PlayStation 3 since the beginning of this generation. So far Microsoft's Xbox 360 has come out on top, and Microsoft's success is at least partly due to the success of Microsoft's paid online service, Xbox Live.

Unfortunately for gamers, Microsoft decided to make Xbox Live $50 a year for a gold membership (which is needed to play online as well as use many other premium features). When Sony decided to provide online for PlayStation 3 gamers for free, their service was so inferior anyone used to Xbox Live could hardly consider it. Nowadays Sony's PlayStation Network has made great strides in catching up to Xbox Live, and so gamers must ask themselves: Is Xbox Live worth the money?

After the fun I had playing Peggle and 1 vs. 100 last night, I'd have to say XBL is definitely worth every penny!

Sony offering a similar product for free doesn't make XBL worth any less, to me. Both services are worth paying for (although I only use the PSN for downloading games, videos, and sending messages to my friends list).

couldn't agree more!

Dancing with fake girls on HOME puts a smile on my face :)

Xbox Live is worth it.

this is outdated.
ps3 now offers, a chat up 16 players even if they are in different games.
just not voice chat yet.

and i join friends  and there is space left in the team you will join in the same squad, at least in games like killzone 2.

and if you want exclusives demo, just suscribe to Qore.

this articles its all "oh i am also heard!". he probably never played on psn.

lags depends on various things, lbp had small lag when joining a game, but it disappear after u success ful joined now with the patches logging in it's smooth.

but games like resistance 2, had 60 players matches and run smooth.

and it's free.

then he doesn't take into account PSN services-

Vidzone, Home, PS Video Store, PlayTV, etc.

YOU MEAN DUDES......

My live gold expired almost a month ago, I haven't renew it yet, I miss it cuz I can't play online multiplayer (COD4) but thats about it, I don't care about the rest of the features XBL offers ..

This is the time I would like to have a PS3 just to play on some good old online multiplayer for free, I can careless about the extra features..

XBL silver members should at least have the privilege to play online as default and the rest of the extra and special features should be at a premium cost.

Its worth every penny.   Even if I only played online once a monty I would still pay for live cause its just that awesome.

That didn't convince me it's worth $50/year.

Cross game party chatting, netflix (which I never use), less lag (which I don't believe is true) and more demos.

I don't see how that's worth $50/year. Oh wait, facebook and twitter are coming to live that makes it worth it.
