Ah--yes. I don't know what it came with, but I immediately updated it to 2.8

good to hear you are happy with your purchase
hopefully most of the new(and old) PS3 owners are
Glad to see that opinion can dramatically change overnight.
The firmware and Home should be getting significant updates soon, so it should become an even slicker experience and of course also the technology behind PS3 exclusives are getting ever more slicker as well.
Yes, the media bias, especially in the US has been disturbing, but hopefully that's going to change as well.
Congrats on the PS3; pretty spiffy, huh? Let me add my support for Uncharted. It's a great wee game, and Uncharted 2 is looking so good it almost hurts. Other exclusive highlights, for me, include:
Metal Gear Solid 4 (personally, it was one of the best games I've ever played, but I like the MGS games)
MotorStorm Pacific Ridge (awesome OTT driving game; makes the original redundant)
Flower (Odd PSN title where you play a wind of petals using the Sixaxis; great little experience, albeit a little bit short)
Heavenly Sword (some of the Best Mo-Cap in any game ever; and it's a great wee God of War-clone as well with some very innovative Sixaxis use)
Super Stardust HD (great twin-stick shooter on PSN)
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (as action platformers go, it's pretty close to perfect)
Valkyria Chronicles (very good SRPG if you like such things)
WipEout HD (Just awesome PSN title; lovely; gorgeous; eye-sex; the expansion for it is bigger than many full games)
But there is far more. I'd suggest checking review sites and the like for games that match your tastes. I love SingStar, for example; it's a very good title, but I understand singing isn't to everyone's tastes. ;) The PSN is also a deep mine of quality titles and worth delving into for the good stuff.
Suprisingly, the one title everyone keeps telling me to get is Heavenly Sword. My brother even keeps telling me to get that one, and he doesn't even have a PS3. I'm really not into the MGS games, but I'll probably check out most of the other exclusives.
WoW....seems like your having a blast with your ps3 huh.....grats on your purchase also glad your enjoying Killzone2 you might also wanna give Resistance 2 a try it's also a solid shooter.
Domicinator, on Tuesday both HOME and PSN are getting a nice update, you might get your wish with HOME, I have to agree home imo has the greatest potential on psn to become a completely different experience than we have on XBL.
Firmware 3.0 coming out on tuesday should add some nice features such as dynamic themes =D

As far as games, I'm having a blast with Little Big Planet and Killzone 2. I thought I would have some difficulty adjusting to the controller after 2 years on the 360, but I don't have any trouble switching back and forth. I also forgot that my controller had the six axis thingy, so I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to use it in Killzone 2 toward the beginning of the game. |
It's not that bad going from one controller to the other. I don't get the hate for the PS3 controller that some people have. Since I'd rather be playing a shooter game with a mouse and keyboard, PS3 or 360 controllers are interchangable to me.
Yea, the bad rap that Killzone 2 got was insane. If I dislike using a controller yet can still kick ass in Killzone 2, people who live by the controller shouldn't be complaining.
