Well, I'm not a huge fan of homosexuals either, mainly due to their activities. I mean I always see lesbians snogging on street corners (disgusting), but I never see straight folks doing that. Also, I know this is very stereotypical of me and there are alot of gays out there who are different, but I see most homosexuals as people who aren't interested in meaningful relationships but more just sex, like they seek fuck-buddies rather than partners.

Personal experiences put me off homosexuals, I get uncomfortable when I see gays or lesbains snogging or touching on the streets, it's just not nice imo.

Flame me, do whatever you like. This is my opinion, and I know I have been stereotypical. There are good gays out there. Keep in mind that I live in Ireland which is basically made up of white straight people. There are basically no black people or homosexuals where I live.

If you KNEW that you were using stereotypes and KNEW that your country has a low homosexual population and you KNEW it would piss people off, why the hell would you post it other than to be a complete ass?

Ugh, some people need to toughen up. I never insulted anyone in my post, I gave my opinion, come back with something not so sensitive and more constructive next time.

You used stereotypes. Those are insulting. What if I used the stereotype every conservative I met are gay-bashing bible-loving republicans? It may be true for a few, but to say it like it applies to everyone is an insult.

But my stereotypes likely apply to the majority of gays and basically every homosexual Ive seen or know. Is it an offense to call someone more sexually influenced than long term relationship influenced?

You know this yourself, you see few homosexuals settling down/having relationships together, but you see alot of feminine like males around and its obvious what they are looking for.

Personally I don't care if you have a problem with homosexuality.  Hate me for it, I don't care.  You can go be with other like-minded individuals and I will be all the happier for not knowing or caring about you.  But stay out of my way.

I think, that is exactly what is happening in this thread. (except that "hate" thing, no one really took it that far).

Some people told their personal opinion about the whole thing. No one wants to kill gays, ban them, or anything like that.

I think we can all agree that it would be very ironic, if in the name of freedom, we would be restricted to say our opinion.

That's actually one of my main problems with modern liberal thinking: "You are allowed to say anything, except "liberalism sucks". Everyone is equal, except those retarded bigots who don't believe that everyone is equal, they should be chemically castrated." (someone actually suggested this in this thread)

I think those replies were in bad taste, but for the most part, I haven't really seen anyone say "shut up" and "stop posting'. Stop being so butthurt.

So you took a look at dozens, maybe hundreds, of million of gay people and determine that the vast majority are promiscuous, effeminate, and unable to hold a relationship? Your kind of attitude towards homosexuals is sickening.

I will never leave you

That is the most stupid post I have read.

Firstly, many straight people do kiss in the streets. Just go out at night.

Secondly, some gay people go to the extreme because they are overcompensating for the oppression they feel or have their own personal hang-ups. It is silly to say that the Irish are somehow less gay than other nations. You might as well say the Saudis are the least gay nation on the planet. If people act in the way that you write then gay people are hardly going to come out shouting, barring the extremist types that do it your face.

Your opinion is only valid in terms of how you feel, but factually it is a mess. You cannot back up your statements with figures only some vague anecdotal and judgemental comments. Go and do some research and try doing it without your emotions getting in the way.

You might think about the fact that there are many desperate people in the world both homo and hetero that go out in the night, get drunk and sleep around. I'm pretty sure most people are looking to be accepted, loved and cared for. To somehow expect gay people to be massively different in their emotional needs is to not know what people have in common.

People love to focus on difference. We have so much more in common than we have differences, but the media, politics and the like focus on the differences, on negativity. It is a sad state of affairs.

Sigh.

This argument will go on and on because it is an issue, like assisted suicide or abortion that people have deep seated feeling about.

I guess all I have to say is:

If two men or two women have a relationship, or get married, does it affect your ability to get married or have kids?  No?  Then why do you even care?  For religious reasons?  Fine, keep them to yourself.  You choose your religion I didn't.

If you believe it to be wrong because we are "choosing" an immoral lifestyle, I ask you to honestly assess your life and pinpoint the exact moment during adolescence when you "chose" to be heterosexual.  I'll give you a hint, you can't do it, because you didn't choose to be heterosexual anymore than I chose to be gay, you just went through puberty and realized you were attracted to the opposite sex, much like I went through puberty and found myself attracted to the same sex.

For those of you who feel we shouldn't celebrate pride and "flaunt" our homosexuality, realize that most minorities have some sort of pride demonstration because it provides a moment of solidarity when we can say that we will not be marginalized and criminalized.  Our gay agenda is to have equal rights as heterosexuals, nothing more, nothing less.  Like the womans suffrage movement or the civil rights movement it is slow and we face opposition, but we will get there.  There are still large portions of the world where you can be killed for being gay.  You really think gay Iraqis choose to be gay, knowing they have a high chance of being tortured and killed?  For all of you white, middle class, heterosexual males out there, try and think of one time where you have been a part of any minority and then humbly accept how ridiculously easy you have it.

If you think the act of gay sex is gross, well fine with me, fantasize about something else.  I certainly don't think of vaginas or breasts appealing.

Personally I don't care if you have a problem with homosexuality.  Hate me for it, I don't care.  You can go be with other like-minded individuals and I will be all the happier for not knowing or caring about you.  But stay out of my way.  Because unlike you, we have a tangible benefit to fighting for equality, and we will get it.

Answer - Good question. I think it's nasty I was just expressing my opinion I can do that oh and don't forget that there are gay christians out there.

6. Fine, keep [your religious values] to yourself.

Answer - Why?

8. I ask you to honestly assess your life and pinpoint the exact moment during adolescence when you "chose" to be heterosexual.

Answer - Birth.

9. I'll give you a hint, you can't do it, because you didn't choose to be heterosexual anymore than I chose to be gay.

Answer - Really, so I have no choice?

10. you just went through puberty and realized you were attracted to the opposite sex, much like I went through puberty and found myself attracted to the same sex.

Answer - Umm so what about those who find attraction before puberty?

11. Our gay agenda is to have equal rights as heterosexuals.

Answer - There's nothing wrong with that, except for the marriage part because marriage is a religious tradition and that is an abomination to GOD.

12. There are still large portions of the world where you can be killed for being gay.

Answer - Unfortunately, man is sinful, but remember, in my religion being gay is a sin so I believe that both the killer and the victim have sinned.

The ones I consider important.

6. Why? Because no one wants beliefs forced upon them.

8. You "chose" it at birth? You mean you were born that way? Or did you have a conscious choice when your brain was barely developed and you didn't know what sex was?

9. You are blatantly contradicting yourself. You're implying you do have a choice when you said you clearly don't.

10. I don't think there is sexual attraction before puberty.

11. Marriage is an abomination to god? I won't argue with that silly millenia old book, but if that's your basis for morals, then it's a pretty poor choice.

12. So the person sinned for being attracted to the same sex? And they deserve to be killed?

Why does God even care about attraction anyway? So one man is attracted to another? Why is that an abomination? Why do they deserve to burn in hellfire for it? WHY DOES IT MATTER? Is it because the bible says so? Why does the bible say so? Why does God want them to go to hell?

6. Nobody was forcing beliefs upon anyone.

8. It was just a misunderstanding. Obviously I didn't "choose" to be that way when I was born. But are people born gay? Eh, they might be. I think thats where I was going with that.

9. Again, because I'm not sure whether you are born gay or not. Could it be that we have a choice absolutely.

10. Can you prove this?

11. You twisted my words. I didn't mean "marriage" I meant "gay marriage".

12. Sinned? Yes. Because "sinning" is christian/catholic based. Deserved to be killed? No. Only GOD can judge someone and he already said "thou shall not kill"

------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Why does God even care about attraction anyway?

Answer - Your questioning the Almighty One?

2. So one man is attracted to another? Why is that an abomination?

Answer - Well I don't know if your religious or not, but it is an abomination to GOD because he created man in his image, and him a women to procreate. Adam and Eve.

3. Why do they deserve to burn in hellfire for it?

Answer - Well I'll leave GOD himself to answer that for you but knowing that its sinful to be gay and not caring is a sure way to hellfire.

4. Is it because the bible says so?

Answer - Well . . . yes.

5. Why does God want them to go to hell?

Answer - He doesn't that is why he teaches those who believe his ways and asks them to spread the word.

I do oppose the existence of "gay leader" and how SOME gays are trying to create a "gay culture". That makes no fucking sense >.< Again, pride and trying to create your own culture only alienates yourself and sets yourself apart as being different, than the same, as everyone else.

Being gay is a sexual orientation, not a life style, not a ideolgy, etc. I hope that there's a back lash, just as like there has been with Atheists (who've begun to start criticizing the word Atheism itself) recently, within the gay community at any attempt within to try to group, unite, and distinguish themselves through other means aside the simple fact of sexual orientation.

Gays don't need to be wearing a certain fashion, use lingo, hang out at gay bars (well, actually it makes practical sense for the sake of picking up people... so maybe not), etc. They should be asking to be seen no differently due to their sexual orientation, but it pains me to then see "gay leaders" fucking crush the whole point of gay rights and the movements by actually giving credence to what the bigots were saying. That because of their sexual orientation they are different, unique, etc. Sexual orientation doesn't do shit to your character! >.< That's why it's not worthy of shame or pride. That's why you don't have to act effeminetly, dress a certain way, hang out at certain places, etc.

It's both the bigots and those from within that are actually doing the same thing. One accuses, and one gives credence to the accuser.

@ Dtewi - You know as well as I do, you just don't want to admit it. Ive seen alot of gay people about on my travela, I rekon it's a fair indicator of the majority of gays. Pick out a part of my post that you think is un-true, or factually wrong.

@ Baz - Dude, I was in Glasgow over the weekend (shithole by the way) and I was walking along the street. Two lesbains were up ahead of me in the middle of the street in the city centre rubbing each others legs and snogging. One was dressed like a hooker and the other one was a big bulky girl (to replicate the male). I've never seen straight people do that, at least while they are sober. I then walked into a shopping centre and there was a feminine like male doing hairdressing with a really camp accent. I'm not saying gay people dont like meaningful relationships, I'm just saying they are less frequent among the community.

Also, Ireland is alot less 'gay' that most of the world because in comparison to the world few people immigrate here, and there is a far smaller population here than in other parts which means there are less homosexuals. Over here is also composed of around 95+% of the same race, compare that to New York for example.

@ Axumblade

And I respect you for that, also you'l find that I clearly stated that not all gays are like how I described, just the majority to me.

The Bible says many things, consistent and contradictory. Mainly because it was most likely to have been written by lots of different people (yes people, not god) and been re-written, edited, censored and so on. I don't think we should let some irrational faith dictate moral standards personally.

@ Akvod, but you know that alot of gays act differently than straight people, more camp and feminine. Being gay is more than just a sexual orientation, you can tell many homosexuals a mile off my the way they dress, talk and act. Others (like Axumblade Im guessing) are basically impossible to tell which indicates that they are more like the main population of the earth.
