I think some TVs don't accept 1080p in component cables, but up to 1080i at least they all do, I think.

All ( 99%) 1920x1080 tv´s (full hd) accept 1080p in component and hdmi, as long as there is the connection.

1280x720 tv´s (hd ready) don´t accept 1080p, only 720p and 1080i.

hdmi and component has THE SAME QUALITY IMAGE, there´s no diference at all. hdmi is digital, component is analogic, but the signal is the same.

If you talk with managers from high profile home cinema and projectors stores they will tell you that the best cable to watch 1080p is COMPONENT.

@ NJ5

tenho cabo de componentes e hdmi para a ps3 e não há diferença nenhuma nos jogos. Em filmes já há variações, uns ficam melhor em hdmi, outros em componente.

My 40 inch Bravia accepts and displays 1080p just find and its a 720 set.

This confirms something for me. I have my PC connected to my 40" inch tv.

When I initially set it up I used a DVI->HDMI cable thinking it was the best picture I would ever see because it's digital. Well I turned it on and it looked HORRIBLE: blur and unreadable text everywhere. I decided to switch to a VGA cable (analog) and plugged it directly into the back of the TV and it looked amazing, bar none. I was fooled into thinking digital was the way to go, no matter what.

No it doesn't.

It seems very unlikely, but Component is just marginally better than AV- HDMI is far above both.

Wow, that is a really dumbass comment. Did you pull that out of your ass?

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

No HD ready TV supports 1080p, that's why they are HD ready and not full HD.

As for the component cable on slims.. pretty much 100% sure it supports it. Though I think Sony's official cables are still in their PS2 component cable packaging, it's the same connector as the PS3.

Though I'd recommend hdmi for the ps3, if you want to upscale anything or watch bluray at 1080p. Well, "anything" now means dvd films cause ps2 b/c is gone...

Dont tell me what my TV accepts and doesnt accept

Get a grip or go buy a fucking bravia and try it yourself

My god the nerve of some people

I have a fucking HD ready Bravia as a matter of fact. As another matter of fact hd ready TVs simply don't display 1080p.

HD ready tv's usually only do 1080i, Full HD sets are the ones that do everything upto 1080p.
If your HD ready tv accepts a 1080p signal, then it will most likely display it at 1080i and not 1080p.

Lol you need to get a clue and realize it's impossible for a 720 set to run at 1080p. But you're welcome to keep believing that. In fact, go to your nearest electronics store and tell the employees there so they can laugh at you.

If i set my PS3 to 1080p the TV displays everything fine, it may infact be showing me 1080I but the statement that it will no accept the signal is totally false.
