Forums - Sony - PSP must-haves?

Disclaimer: This thread is NOT about just posting what you, personally, are obsessed with. Do NOT just post something because you feel like it.

Okay, with that out of the way, here's the deal. I plan to buy a PSP one of these days. No clue when yet, though. But right now, I can only think of three games that I absolutely intend to buy. I know there are more that I'll want, but right now, I can't think of them.

So you're going to for me.

Currently, my list consists of:

-Dissidia: Final Fantasy
-Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny
-Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
-Me & My Katamari

Pretty much, Soul Calibur is what sold the PSP to me. I am a tremendous Soul series fan, and I own every single game released in the series (and since SCII has the special characters on each iteration, I also own all three copies of SCII). I have made it my mission to always own every game in that series, so when they announced that, I effectively decided that I guess I have to own a PSP.

Alright. So, look at my game library, if you want, for help. I love fighters, I love puzzle games, and, naturally, I want to stay far away from first-person shooters (actually, try avoiding all shooters, really. Handheld shooters are usually a fail, IMO). Other than that, all other genres are liked and are fair game.

So tell me... what games must I have for the PSP?

Around the Network

Phantasy Star Portable 2
LUNAR remake
Star Ocean 1&2
Tekken 6
FInal Fantasy Crisis Core

ill go look up more( wat u should be doing)

I forgot Tekken 6 was coming out for PSP too. I don't know if I care to get it, though, because I intend to only own one version of that. I'm not obsessed with the Tekken series like I am the Soul series. Especially since 6 is supposed to NOT do unlockable characters, and I'm not a DLC whore.

I can't exactly go and "look up" anything because I don't know what TO look up. I'm entirely unfamiliar with the library, and I don't know what's good in the specific areas that I enjoy.

As for RPGs, Crisis Core doesn't appeal to me, and I'm mainly only interested in classic RPGs that don't waste too much time on telling the story with slow gameplay or FMVs. The SNES Final Fantasies are perfect in those regards. Gimme RPGs that play like that, not these newfangled playable movies.

I really only consider there to be 2 must haves - God of War: CoO and Crisis Core.

But I think it probably depends on your interests, etc...

If like Classic styled JRPG's:

Star Ocean 1&2( remakes)
LUNAR remake
Valkryia Profile
FInal Fantasy 1&2
FInal Fantasy war of the Lions

Around the Network

Games I enjoyed (and I haven't really played too many): Daxter, Locoroco, Ridge Racer, God of War: Chains of Olympus.

I've heard darn good things about Valkyrie Profile.

As for War of the Lions, I've been considering the entire Ivalice Alliance series. If I can get into the DS titles, then yeah, War of the Lions will certainly go on the list.

I've been really wanting to try out the Star Ocean series, so I'm excited to see they have remakes of BOTH the first two on PSP. I almost got 3 at Gamestop last week.

You should consider Patapon also, but only if you're up to a tough, difficult and unfair game. But I think it's a game that deserves to be played (you can check my review).

You have a good list there, Me and My Katamari and Dissidia are definitely recommended

Star Ocean 1&2 and Valkryia Profile( definitely this one) are the definition of little story HIGH gameplay

I have the 1st Starocean remake and I found it to be good fun (never played orginal).

Definately God of War: CoO if you like action games, I bought it on a whim and it got me into the God of War series completely.

You might wanna try Patapon. I'm not much of a fan, but it's meant to be good and has good reviews.

Flow is a good, cheap download on PSN, although I have it on PS3 so I'm not sure how well it works on handheld.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is good fun and the missions are designed with portable gaming in mind.

The 2 GTA games are good fun... but they have some shooting!

And Tekken as people have mentioned above, but it doesn't sound like you're too keen.

Finally, Gran Turismo is releasing soon but I don't see too many racing games in your collection so you might want to give it a miss.
