Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft denies slim 360 rumors

darendt said:
The 360 is already HUGE and has heat issues with an external power supply! Do you really want them playing with the hardware and making it smaller? It would be RROD all over again.

No, the Xbox 360 slim will less chance of RROD than you have of being permabanned from this site.

Tease.

Yeah the whole slim thing doesn't look good at all. The 360 is doing fine on its own.

Either way you won't be able to improve a product to such a degree that it could go from melting to the point of having a smaller more cramped version of itself. Darendt's point was a little dramatic but correct. I just dont think that it will be worth it for microsoft to even mess around with a slim version in a year or so, as the console is basically middle-aged, they'll just get less return on the investment when things like the natal project are more important

but thats the slimmest AND quietest microsoft can get it without breaking it :D

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

I don't want a slim but I do want a system resdesign for Natal launch, just so I can buy something new and fancy

How can a slim design console ever be called Xbox?

I don't quite understand why they call it the PS3 Slim. Its now only slightly smaller than the 360. The PS3 Micro will probably be the size of the original PS2.

Anything a competitor is doing instantly becomes a rumor for the other. Nobody puts effort into rumors anymore.
