I was just in Bic Camera and there didn't seem to be any PS3 fat stock, let alone price cut... I got my Slim reservation in though.
Bad news for the MH3 defence force is that controller bundles were in the bargain bin for 5980 Yen.

Just a casual look-around, nothing "scientific", but in the past week I haven't seen a new PS3 displayed in the two largest electronic stores in my city. It also seems that both stores are not advertising the PS3 in online adverts/websites.
Slim is advertised to go on sale 3 September in Japan.
