I'm fairly certain that your post confirms my suspicion that some PS3 fans are slightly worried by this thread.

VGChartz has always been off on PS3 numbers, a month ago Sony said it had SOLD 23.8 million PS3's, even if you want to say it was shipped to retailers that would be over 3/4 million consoles on shelves, yet that very same week reports of shortages.

You all praise these numbers to be facts. They are esitmates, and every once in awhile you need to realize that these estimates are wrong.

Lack of stock should make the PS3 fall below 2k next week in Japan.

MC said 1.7k this week, half of what famitsu said.  This shows what is obviously some stores having a lot more stock than others.  These numbers include a couple days before the slim announcement.  Next week could show triple digits from MC, it's possible.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

PS3 Slim is only out in certain places in NA...like my local target still hasn't gotten its first shipment of ps3 slims...hopefully soon.

750k consoles on shelves (and in stock, at distributors and under shipping) is not much compared to historical values. So I don't see any particular reason to complain in that case.

No one says the numbers are facts. It is however funny that you both believe there have been significant shortages for a month AND that sales must be higher this week, shortages be damned. What gives?

Wow. PS3 stock must be almost non-existent in Japan.

When are they getting the Slim? I remember hearing both September 1st and 3rd.

September the 3rd. There is also a PS3 Slim + new Gundam game bundle on the same day.
