Forums - Microsoft - FASA founder says: Microsoft destroyed our development culture

Interesting article.  Nice find.

There's a reason most developers want to say independent. Which is why it was funny when people thought Itagaki ever wanted to join MS. May have been the funniest things I had ever heard on this forum.

But MS isn't the exception... happens all the time at large corporations in video gaming. EA, Ubisoft, Activision... I'm sure Sony and Ninty as well. But hey it's a double edged sword. Have these expensive consoles to develop for (especially HD systems) and no way to fully produce a game without help from one of these giants. It's hard to be an independent developer these days. So have to work with these publishers anyways.

The bold is so true.  You don't even need the rest.

^ indeed but since sony join this war, they picked all small studios convert them into giants.
they invest tons of money , in their games, heavenly sword, Little big planet are made by small teams, yet they were good games, especially LBP. which one the highest rated games EVER.
microsoft have more money, but ia m think they are not confident of their studios.

This is why its better for MS (and other big company's) to buy exclusives rather than buy the whole studio...

I'm so glad they let go of Bungie, I bet Halo: Reach will be the best Halo now that they aren't totally controlled by MS.

not suprised
