Vanilla games tend to be balanced 25% Mafia, yeah, with rounding in favor of the town - I think.

Power games are harder to balance - but I think the ratio could be kept the same, especially if you went down the wily road of giving some mafiosos powers.

Some ideas:

Reverse Traitor: In the Mafia, but wins with the Town. Can't think of a fair mechanism for the Mafia to find out/eliminate them.

Insane Cop: Always returns reversed results, no knowledge.

Daycop: Same as Cop, but posts in public and recieves answer during the same day by PM (e.g. "Investigate: Soleron". Anyone can still fake "Investigate:".

Inventor (one Town, one Mafia?): Can come up with one Invention name. Mod invents role based on that name.

Necromancer: Brings back a player from the dead once

- Person who must roleclaim something on a specific day

Nemesis: Person who must vote a particular person every day. This can be faked and claimed too, so not as obvious as you think.

Role Investigator

- Power to swap two person's roles and alignment

Poisoner: Chooses a target each day, that person is informed publicly they have 2 days to live (rather than dying instantly)

This is the only one I like.

Still... Mafia/Arsonist/Poisoner = potentially 3 deaths per day later on.  Games will go really fast (could be good or bad).

I'm just throwing them out there, I too don't think many of them should be used at once.

Poisoner seems more fun than Arsonist though.  It has less of an impact on the actual game because of the delay (and how short games seem to be), but seems to have more of an effect on the metagame.

Oooh I came up with one that isn't on those lists:

Body Snatcher:  During the night, the Body Snatcher chooses another living person.  All things that would happen to that person happen to the Body Snatcher instead and vice versa.  Aligned with Townsfolk.

Example:  Erin is a body snatcher.  Kevin is mafia.   Ronald is a townsfolk.  During the night, Erin switches with Ronald.  Kevin attempts to kill Erin.  The next morning, Ronald is found dead.

Example 2:  Erin is a body snatcher.  Kevin is mafia.   B. King is a cop.  During the night, Erin switches places with Kevin.  B. King investigates her and sees that she's mafia.  The next day she gets lynched.

I love this one, it's more like a curse, but it could be advantageous depending the case. Definitely up for this one

Nice ones... I'll be working on the new roles list then.

Anyhoo, 13 players is good. Just a bit longer...
