I also wonder things, for example i wonder why the core can still stand on their pedistals and laugh "down" on the Wii when MS and Sony breaks their legs to move more in line with it?  If Nintendo is being arrogant why are their compeators so activly trying to find a foot hold in Nintendos market place? What happened to Nintendo being doomed without hd and we would see Wii hd or Nintendo being 3ed party to sony in the near future?

Pachter is a fucking idiot and this market prediction smells like a baby's dipper. Nintendo are far from infailable but it takes a speical mindset to try and constantly belittle what they have and are still accomplishing this gen. THis year is down over last year, but they are still selling more then their compation combined. yeah i'd hate to have nintendos problems right now.

Wrong. Nintendo needs to continue to drive VALUE.

MS has had units cheaper than Nintendo for a long time now in every region, yet Wii still sells 2x the 360 most of the time. It does this with no HDD, HD, downloadable movies, DVD, or Live.

How? By creating value in other aspects and offering features that are similar to the others.

HDD ~ SDHC support (when considering this is far more than sutable for anything Wii utilizes right now)
Live Arcade < WW/VC
Facebook < Wii Browser. seriously, Wii has a free browser. you can use Facebook as well as the greater majority of the rest of the internet.
DVD - doesn't matter to mass users as everyone already has DVD player or could buy one for <$30.
downloadble movies - again not important as it is a very small portion of users, plus may come to Wii soon anyways.
HD - not important to mass of users, only techies and graphicx whores, basically Wii's capabilites are good enough for mass of players.
Live > Wii online play, yet majority of Wii's appeal is inhouse coop play, not online anyways.

Basically, the Wii is comparable or better in some areas and in the others where it is lacking it creates unique value in its controller and specific games.

All create value to a greater market than the endless supply of great shooters on 360. 360 and PS3 keep adding value to one specific core crowd, while Wii does far better on the rest of the groups, which are larger. Personally, I am looking forward to the continued growth of more core centric games on Wii.

A price cut helps you gain marketshare while at best keep profits at par. Increase value can not only increase sales and marketshare, but will also always increase profits as long as the change to increase value is for profit as well.

So, This year Nintendo will not decrease price until after WSR, NSMBWii, Wii Fit +, and MH3 are out and have proven to not increase sales back to last years levels. Then they will feel that the value cannot be increased without decreasing price.

MS and Sony are doing the same thing and the market has already told them that price reduction in required to meet levels where the mass considers its price equal to its value.

Wii may not be at that point yet.
