From what I understand the Arcade will remain at $199 and the Elite will drop to $299 whilst the Pro will be eased out at $249.

Now other countries like the UK for example saw a £30 price cut on the Elite and the £30 price hike on the Arcade now that sounds like the OP but does not relate to the US as I am aware currentely.

Exactly. I feel it's very strange that the PS3 gets a very powerful price drop by $100 from $399 to $299 (along with a HDD increase from 80GB to 120GB), while the X360 doesn't drop in price at all, essentially they only increase the HDD from 60GB (Pro) to 120GB (Elite) while remaining at $299.

Stupid over-confidence I think. But maybe they'll drop $50 later this Fall?
