I will say one downside of Contra 4, and one of the big reasons I sort of stopped playing it was it kills my thumbs due to the size of the DS Lite.

Honestly, the entire thing is about as big as an NES controller so I'm not sure why your thumbs would kill. In fact, wouldn't you have to move your thumbs less?

I agree about the thumb killing part. Another thing that annoyed me was that they didn't really program the dual-screens that well. Sometimes, the bullets would appear a little bit farther to the left or right depending where you shoot the enemy (on the top screen I mean). That can be deadly, especially when it's the bullets that come toward you!

I believe the DSLite has the d-pad crammed tighter toward your hand then where the NES controller d-pad was. Also, the NES controller is a lot lighter. With the DS my thumbs are jamed tight against my hand and I have to hold the DS up so it doesn't fall. The combination of those two things makes it a lot harder to play. Even the Wii remote held sideways is a lot easier to play on and that has a smaller d-pad then the NES did.

Contra is an awesome series... and in case you didn't know, the original Contra and Super C on the NES are unlockables in Contra 4... I believe you have to beat a certain number of the challenges to unlock them, but it's well worth the effort!

Oh, and I hope you love pain, because Contra 4 will make you it's bitch! Took me a bunch of tries to finally beat it on easy, and I confess, I needed to use the 99 lives exploit to finally beat it on normal, though I have gone back and beat it without using it.

Haha, hard mode is a bit special though. You'll probably like the changes. =P
