Maybe, it's all a lot. 5,000 Wii points will buy me Ocarina of Time, Super Mario World, Kirby's Adventure, F-Zero, and maybe another Zelda, and one or two more games. Scribblenauts will be long as hell, as well as Metroid Trilogy, and adding hundreds of hours with Pokemon would keep me occupied until Spring. Honestly, I do have enough games to tide me over, I'm saying should I just wait for Heart or get Platinum? Keep in mind, I'll only get one.

You make it sound like you want a game with the most hours. (But FireRed/LeafGreen are based on the originals but have an extra part to the game)
I think FireRed/LeafGreen should be less that $20 to buy so if you want to be cheap then that is a good way to go.

Nope, no cheapness. I wasn't serious about the length of Fire and Leaf, but I do want a lot of replay value.

And no Fire or Leaf. I want the DS ones.

If you're going to get all those other games, then you might as well wait. My first Pokemon experience came when I had no other games to play, so I could just focus on Red. I think if I had multiple games to play at that time, my experience would have been less memorable. Just my 2 cents.

Gold/Silver/Crystal still remain the best, imo. Wait for the remakes.

Get Platinum, as long as you still get Gold and Silver.

Don't get me wrong Platinum is the best *since* gold and silver, but both of those games(as well as crystal) are much better than Platinum.
