Forums - Sony - Need Help concerning trading in my PS3 60GB

So, I'm wanting to take up GAME's offer here in the UK. I want to trade in my 60GB (Dont play PS2 games, or use mem card readers), pay £99 and get a slim.

When trading in my PS3 do I need to package in everything with it (like ethernet cable, USB cable,) or just the main components (like Console, power cables, controller)?

Thanks

You wont need ethernet, but you will probably need the usb to mini usb controller cable. I keep mine plugged into my PC to keep it charged while I play, i'd be pissed if I bought a ps3 and it came with none.

Well, Ive got one but it's a madcatz one. Will it matter?

Have you considered selling it on ebay? A 60 gig is still valuable on the secondary markets. You should be able to sell it for more than a slim costs new.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Id trade you slim ps3 straight up for that...if only you were in canada.

^Nah, for the extra effort it's not worth it here in the UK. Imo.
On ebay here the only offers that get alot of bids are 6OGB's for around £180, or £300 with like 26 games included.

If only :)

Don't do it. I might be crazy, the slim is cool and all but......I have seen several threads regarding members wanting advice or deciding to trade their current fat for a slim.

Here is my OP and it is simply just that,......... my opinion.

I personally think that my Fat is better looking, and higher quality than the new slims. You are technically trading in a perfectly working PS3 and paying 99 for 60g more HD space and a unproven new PS3 model.

What if you get a slim and the new models start having issues (the slim is new and fairly unproven). I am not saying it will have problems but you never know. So now, you trading in a perfectly good working console, and then paid extra for the same console, (smaller, less power, sure) that may or may not be working as well and is cheaper looking and cheaper made.

I dont know, maybe it's just me, but I feel the slim is perfect for new adopters.......not current owners. Unless there is some crazy bundle that comes out that gets you a couple of free games.

^ Well, I respect your's but here is my two cents:

60GBs have been dropping like flies due to the YLOD, Im almost certain after seeing the internal design of the slim that it will be more reliable (has a monster of a fan in there), my 60GB feels like a time bomb and I don't want to potentially pay for it to get fixed when I could pay the same amount now and get a Slim.

Also the Slim will be cheaper on the electric, run cooler, has an updated chipset, improved sound capablilites and is obviously smaller. I don't play PS2 games, only use 2 USB ports and don't use the memory card reader.

My 60GB HDD is also full, so the 120GB is a great bonus for me.

So, my minds set basically, I just need to know what all I need to trade in ;)

^ Cool, I respect that.  Oh, and you could always just buy a larger HD 200gig + for less than the 99 and swap it out.  It does not void your warranty, and could prove to be more reliable.  Just an option........
