Forums - Microsoft - Will Halo 3:ODST be a big system seller?

I would say it will depend on the marketing strategy that M$ comes up with. If it is any where near as big as H3's they will shift more units than most here are thinking. But if its done like any other game, then we will see a spike and then its done.

Halo 3 was hyped so much it drew people in that had no idea what Halo was. And there is potential for this to happen again.

Well some people said that Halo 3 wouldnt move much 360s, but they was wrong. It bumped sales a lot of week after. I think it wont be so huge again, but a little, yes.

PS3 has one system booster left to go this gen, 2 in Japan. I think a fair number of PS2 GT fans went with 360 or Wii at the start of the gen, but when GT5 comes out they won't be able to ignore it. They'll have had their current gen console for a few years, and with the PS3 getting to an affordable level, with a few other exclusive games they'd like to have a go at, they'll grab themselves a PS3 and reacquaint themselves with the GT brand. Plenty of PS2 FF fans in Japan have gone to the Wii I reckon, and they'll grab themselves a PS3 when FF XIII hits the stores.

So yeah, I think GT5 is going to move a good lot of PS3s.

I'm with the majority opinion here on ODST. I'm probably in the minority regarding Halo Reach, I don't think it'll push a lot of hardware either. More than ODST for sure, but not anything like Halo 3 level of hardware push, and for much the same reason as ODST won't. The vast majority of people who are keen on Reach will have a 360 already.

Put a Reach design on your 360 and it'll sell like crazy though. What self respecting Halo Fan isn't going to buy a shiny new 360 with Reach artwork all over it?

definitely not. just the same fan userbase driven sales..probably lesser this time as the hype is not there as much it was way back in sept 2007. 1st week 1.6-1.8 mn and ltd 6-7 mn.

Νο Game will be a system seller till the end of this generation (except GT5 which will push PS3s to people who won't buy another game in their life), cause we're talking for a generation that has a sound and solid line up of great titles, exclusives or not.
Why should HALO ODST be a system seller, and not CoD MW2?

I would think 99.9% of Halo fans already have a 360.

I say the same thing about GranTurismo fans already having PS3's....But all PS3fans on this site claimit will be a big system seller...

This is very true.

Nationwide Halo 3: ODST Promotional Tour Announced

Want to get your Covenant-slaying hands on Bungie’s upcoming Halo 3: ODST before it’s released on September 22nd? Who am I kidding? Of course you do, and here’s how you can.

Microsoft, Bungie and GameStop are sponsoring a nationwide ODST tour that will bring the year’s most anticipated title to a city near you, starting August 22nd. The 22-city tour unsurprisingly kicks off in Seattle before making its way from coast to coast. Better still, you’ll be playing the game aboard a custom built ODST-inspired transport vehicle complete with eight Xbox 360 consoles and plenty of leg room. Sounds like a winning formula to me. Also, participants (who must be at least 17 years old) will also be able to win some Halo swag if they have what it takes to separate themselves from the pack. In short, if you love Halo, you must find a way to take part in this event.

Click through to see the full list of tour stops.

8/22 - Seattle (Redmond, WA) - Redmond Town Center

How many of you plan on checking out the ODST road show?

No.

Halo ODST is more or less a game most people will buy if they already have a 360 and love Halo. Most people that wanted Halo 3 already got a 360.

I think Halo Reach has a slight chance at being a system seller if Bungie can prove It's better then Halo 3 and has a lot more to offer. But that is yet to be seen.

(I love Halo btw, even love Halo Wars)

It's just that simple.
