Why do people consider Amazon the barometer of success?

We don't even know how many they've sold.

I think it's just so here... It's a sales number website, if we don't have precise info, we try to make some and discuss, that's part of the fun hanging around here.

 

But well, at least amazon can be a barometer of not epic fail.

I don't get why people have this idea that Nintendo created shortages on purpose. They increased Wii production very quickly, from 1 million in the beginning, then to 1.8 million and then to 2.4 million per month. As far as I know that's the highest production speed any console has ever had.

It's not that simple to increase production quickly... you need to make new contracts with each and every single supplier, and it takes time for all the suppliers to shift their production to Nintendo.

I didnt know that, thanks for the info. Whether it was on purpose or not, it really helped to hype the Wii.

I guess i thought of it because by that time i read tons of articles about Wii shortages and next to my place there were plenty left... probably the diff between Europe and Usa.

OT: it wouldnt suprise me if sony tries to do it, on purpose, at least at the begining.

it is best seller in gaming as whole.If you go to the amazon game's bestseller list,it only shows you game software.You have to go to game bestseller category as whole and you will see that it is now outselling Wii Sports Resort which is the second highest selling in gaming as whole.

I'm surprised people consider this "unbelievable." Any console could be #1 at Amazon with a price drop. I'm sure there will be more threads and news articles when its the #1 selling console of the week. Its a small victory in my eyes considering competition is forcing them to do major price drops.
